GSX not working **SOLVED**

GSX is not working in FSX.
Couatl is still in addon manger.

Define "not working", please.

First, have you installed the FULL GSX installer, and not just the Addon Manager ?

After you are sure having done that, do you have the GSX sub menus under the "Couatl powered products" menu ?

If yes, check the "Change key assignment" menu, and check the key assigned to GSX. Do you have another addon using that key (like IVAP, which by default use the same CTRL+F12 key as GSX) ? If yes, you need to change the key assignment for GSX or in the other addon.

Not working = If I hit CTRL+F12 with brakes on I do not get the GSX menu.

GSX has been running quite well for a long time. Something must have caused it to stop. I recently ran CCleaner.

I have in the past installed the full GSX as well as the addon manager.

I do have the sub menus under the  "Couatl powered products".

CTRL+F12 is dedicated to GSX.

I do have a copy of gsx_fsx_setup.exe dated 5/13/2012.\

Hello,

I just headed to this forum here to look about an error I have since today as I wanted to start a flight:
and the first thread here is about the same error!


It's exactly the same here: I can't open the GSX window in FSX with Ctrl+F12 (or any other combination)
Of course it has worked - don't know when I have used GSX the last time, but sure in the last 7 days!

I have not run CCCleaner or sth like that!

I have the Addon manager and Couatl Entry in the FSX menu.
And I can open all submenues in GSX (settings, aircraft manager etc) and also the Addon manager of course.



I have tried now several reinstalls (downloaded the installer from FSD Site), also deactivate and reactivate the key.
Restarting Couatl also does not help.

So, I run out of ideas now.
I have reinstalled my FSX lately, but GSX was working since then as I said.
Otherwise I can't say that I have installed or made sth unusual the last days...

p.s. many thanks for adding the "nose left-right" on GSX

p.p.s: what I have also tried is to delete the [trusted] line in the FSX.cfg -- no success. Was just an idea.

You can also activate a log, to see what's happening: open the Notepad and type the following on a new blank file:

logFile=couatl.log

(please note logFile is written beginning with a lower case l and a capital F )

Save the file as couatl.ini in the FSX\fsdreamteam\couatl folder, so it stays at the same level of the couatl.exe. Then go in FSX, then when it's done loading a scenery and ready to fly, exit and post the content of the Couatl.LOG file that should have been created inside FSX\fsdreamteam\couatl

I have deleted all the scenery library entries to make the post here not too long.
They do all show nothing special.

Both your logs shows that GSX has been loaded successfully and it's working. Are these logs made after you pressed CTRL+F12 ?

If not, do it again, press CTRL+F12 first and THEN exit from FSX and post the log.

This time I used CTRL F12.
I tried to remove most scenery files.

NOTE:  Before this problem I had "couatl.exe" listed in my "msconfig" startup file, it is no longer listed in there.

I dont know if  this matters but GSX always loaded.

And as I said, I tried other keyassignments, too (but CTRL+F12 was working before, too)

I think not, otherwise it would make sense, that other keycombinations (e.g. CTRL+F11) do also not work.
And it worked a few days ago ...



Is there a procedure to uninstall this FSdreamteam Stuff completely (I just have GSX)?
Even in the registry etc etc?
Maybe such a clean reinstall could help?

I have such a twinky winky keyboard where you can self define F-Keys (which I do not use.)
But that means also, that F-Keys could be disabled (which I have done accidently obvisously)

This was very wrong, and none of our installers put it there. If a file is listed in the msconfig startup list, it means Windows will load it at startup but this is not how it's supposed to work. It's FSX that will launch, using the EXE.XML file.

However, I don't think this is your problem. Your log still doesn't show any error, I'm sorry, but the only possible explanation is that you are not pressing the right key, see the Guenseli reply.
