US Cities Los Angeles, MegaScenery CAL, and Fsdt LAX
« on: September 15, 2012, 01:07:00 am »
Last time I purchased US Cities and tried to use it with MegaScenery and Fsdt was with KLAS, and it was a pain in the rear. I ended up getting rid of US Cities for Las Vegas, and just sticking with MegaScenery and Fsdt. However, since US Cities for Los Angeles has a better rendition of other destination airports such as Bob Hope, Van Nuys, and Catalina Island, airports more geared towards executive jet flyers like myself, it's hard to ignore. I think I'm going to wait and see based on other users experience, to weight out the pros and cons before purchasing US Cities Los Angeles. I read the compatibility documents Aerosoft has put out, but only personal experience by users who have actually paid for this can convince me this time.

Not sure how long before it gets released, but ORBX is working on their landlcass regions for California.  US Cities LA looks awesome, but without night textures...

Yeah, I know, LA without lights is not the same. I think I'll wait for ORBX, I'm sure it will compliment FSdt LAX just fine.

Guys I will advise to hold on this one...I'm getting terrible shutters with the two active.  Shutter at FSDT Lax /no road traffic/ and I've tried both 3d autogen and the default to no avail provided by AS cities.  Interestingly once I fly out of LAX and over to downtown or any other airport for that matter fps return to 25.  But if I circle and face FSDT Lax blam slam creeping and crawling.  Its beautiful work but presently I'll have to revert to FSDT and use it only when flying to the other destinations.  I'm going to deactivate FSDT and observe the results

ok. Works fine with FSDT deactivated but you can't use road traffic..right now its a buy at your own risk / discretion unfortunately.  What a shame none of my other AS and FSDT comb (ORD) have this issue.

That's what I was afraid of after experiencing problems with Las Vegas the last time. The only place I've had less problems has been in Chicago, but then again, KORD was further out from the city than Las Vegas, and from what I can see, Los Angeles. I bet fixes will intale having to rename certain US Cities files like we had to do in both Chicago and Las Vegas to make it work.

I've found just about all of the US Cities to be performance hogs, including Chicago.  Only one I had good luck with was Buffalo/Niagra Falls.  They all look gorgeous, but having to shut things off and rename files means parts of the sceneries disappear.  What is Los Angeles without road traffic?

I agree with you Bruce, without road traffic I might as well go back to FS9

Thx you for your kind words Pride.

Bruce/ specialist,
I believe I found a solution.

1.Sascha has distributed a new Traffic.bgl on the respective site.  2. And I adjusted the Pinpopup in the addon manager to 9....smoother landing at KLAXv2 (very small shutters you have to really look),  few shutters around Downtown Lax and I left traffic on at 28%.  Seemingly there is light at the end of the tunnel.
cheers

I said nothing about "going back", leave me out of this.   ;)
Until Aerosoft adds night textures, I'm not buying any more of the US CitiesX series.  They did it was Las Vegas, now do it with Los Angeles.
