FSDT KFLL F10 gate (and other gates maybe)

Hi Umberto,

I DLed and installed the latest version of KFLL (because I was told it's outdated) and GSX about an hour ago.
Then I loaded a FSX Flight Plan which starts at the Gate F10, but GS doesn't work and prompted me to select the gate I want to go.

GSX kfll.ini says "afcad_path = Scenery/0302/scenery/APX26220.bgl" which is not your KFLL.
If I delete this bgl by useing Airport Scanner, the problem will be solved?

You should never remove a default AFCAD, because our AFCADs are designed to work with it.

That the KFLL.INI file says the path is the default one, is not really a problem, because this is the AFCAD that WAS active when you customized the parking, you probably have installed FSDT KFLL after you already made some changes to the default KFLL.

However, since FSDT KFLL is already customized internally, the customization option won't work and won't have any effect so, you can remove that file, because it's not needed anymore, but it won't make any difference if you remove it or not.

This is not very clear: what do you mean with "GSX doesn't work". If it prompted you to select a gate, it was obviously working. If your flight plan was saved with the parking position made for the default KFLL, it's possible is a bit off, enough to stop GSX recognizing you are parked there so, you should redo your flight plan with the FSDT KFLL active, so the position is the correct one.

Thanks for your quick reply.
"GS doesn't work" means "Ground Services" don't work. I got the gate selection message instead.
I'll redo the flight plan and let you know how it works.

I selected KFLL Gate F10 from FSX main menu and went there. Airplane is default B737-800.
Then did Ctrl+F12, but the result was the same.
I got the gate selection menu.

And I did nothing to the scenery files, never did that, as I've got no knowledge about the structure of scenery files.
I've been using FSDT sceneries for long time, but as I said this never happened before.

As I've said, this might happen if your flight plan was saved when you didn't had FSDT KFLL installed, so the start position was saved in reference to the default scenery and if they don't match (they usually don't), GSX doesn't recognize you being in the center of the parking, and presents the Gate selection menu.

I haven't said you changed the scenery files. I've said you customized the parking position using the GSX provided feature.

That's the only way you could end up having a KFLL.INI file in your %APPDATA%\Virtuali folder. And, you did that when FSDT KFLL wasn't installed because, if you are on a FSDT airport, the "Customize this parking position" option is not available so, there's way for a KFLL.INI file to be created, if the FSDT KFLL is installed.

Yes, I used the editor to use large airplane with no sucess.
But it's not a problem, already deleted the ini file.

As for KFLL installation date and flight plan date,
I installed the latest virsion tonight, but first installed KFLL on Nov. 25 2011.
I made the flight plan KFLL to KTPA on Dec. 6 2011.
But this is not important either.

As I said, tonight, I went to the Gate F10 directly from the FSX initial Free Flight Menu and got the same result.
Then I tried from the taxi way, I requested Follow Me Car. The Car came soon.
But Follow Me Car didn't lead to FSDT KFLL gate F10 but to some other scenery's (maybe it's the default, I'm not sure) F10 which is about 10~15m left from FSDT F10.
I'm sure there's no duplicate as I checked it with Airport Scanner.

Try to activate a log: open the Notepad and type the following on a new blank file:

logFile=couatl.log

(please note logFile is written beginning with a lower case l and a capital F )

Save the file as couatl.ini in the FSX\fsdreamteam\couatl folder, so it stays at the same level of the couatl.exe

Launch FSX, go to KFLL, then exit from FSX and check the couatl.log file that has been created in the FSX\fsdreamteam\couatl folder, the last lines should indicate which AFCAD was active when you were at KFLL.

I did what you told me to do. (I tried every FSDT airports except Hawaiian ones which I don't have, the same thing happened)

The log file is a little bit long but for making it sure, I'd C&P here.

Strange thing has happened.
Everything has returned to the normal state, though I did nothing since I posted previous message,

It's rather a mystery and I'd like to know what caused the problem,
but now as everything goes fine, I think I should be satisfied.

This request doesn't have any sense, since the latest installers are always freely available on our website.
