I have let it update to the release on the 20th 3 times, then, a little before I made my last post, I pressed dismiss.
I update everytime I see a different date, but then have to click dismiss each time after that, because it will still insist that I update.

I have stated doing the same thing. I check the update. If it still says Feb 20 I dismiss.

Fact that both of you are referring to "Dismiss" option in your menu, leads me to I believe there must be some kind of misunderstanding to what the Live update is telling you:

The "Dismiss" menu option is ONLY present if you see THIS menu:

"The latest Couatl™ Live Update is already installed"

1 - Re-install the latest update (doesn't require quitting FSX)"
2 - Read the latest release notes
3 - Dismiss

This is what you are supposed to see if you do a manual "Check for Live Update" from the Couatl menu, and you HAVE the most current update. There IS a "Dismiss" option, which simply means "close this menu", nothing more.

The above menu does NOT come out automatically, it will only come if you check for an update when you have everything updated.

Instead, when there's a new update detected, the Live update will be different:

"A Couatl™ Live Update is available"

1 - Download and install the update (doesn't require quitting FSX)
2 - Read list of changes in this update
3 - Ignore this update

See ? There's NO "Dismiss" option, but there's an "Ignore" instead. The ignore option means "I'm not interested in this update, don't notify me automatically anymore, until the NEXT update will be released"

When the update is major, that requires installing the Addon Manager, the only different option is the 1, which will say an "Addon Manager update" instead of a "Couatl Live Update" is available, and you'll have to quit from FSX to apply, but still the 3rd option will say "Ignore" NOT "Dismiss".

There are no menus anywhere in GSX with a "Dismiss" option that pops out automatically so, the only way you might have seen a "Dismiss" option, is if you manually checked for an update with the most current version available already installed, so it's exactly how it's supposed to be.

So, please, try to describe more precisely what you are doing and what you are seeing because, right now I still don't understand what the problem is. You have the most current, you check for an update, it says is already installed, so what's the problem ?

We might need to investigate if, instead, you were getting the "A Couatl™ Live Update is available" too often but, since you are keep referring to the "Dismiss" option, which doesn't exist in the "Live Update available" menu, that doesn't seem the case.

I misused the word dismissed. What I see each time I get the update screen is Ignore this update which is what I have been doing. I look at the  (no.2) Read list of changes in this update and if the date is FEB 20 I select no. 3

I have not had the update screen in the past 48 hrs.

Just checked, and it doesn't happen here.

Are you being prompted to do a minor update ( a "Couatl update" without having to restart FSX ) or a major update ( an "Addon Manager update" that requires restart ) ?

That's exactly what I get, "Couatl update" without having to restart FSX"

I have not had the update screen in the past 48 hrs.

So it seems everything is working, and it's likely always had. It's possible that you might be mislead thinking there were too many updates notifications, because we might have had more than one update on Feb. 20th, so the date on the release note didn't change, but there was an update nevertheless.

As I've said, whatever time/date your local files have, it's entirely disregarded.

Instead, GSX queries with the server, which will return with a different http header hash tag if the file has changed on the *server* and, since the tag has been stored on your system, the update can be sure there's an update, even the file date/time of your files change locally for any reason (for example, if you make a backup then restore it)

It's really not clear at all from this sentence what's happening.

If you don't say "Ignore" (there's no "Dismiss" in that dialog), it will repeat the question each time you start FSX, that's exactly how it's supposed to work. If you DO the update, it shouldn't appear anymore, until we release the NEXT update.

Just to be more clear: the 24 hours period is only a time interval between checks too see IF there's a new update. But, once GSX has found there IS an update available, it will not wait another 24 hours to remind you of it, it will keep reminding you are outdated until you either apply the update OR Ignore it.

So, please, try to understand this question precisely: are you still seeing that message each time you start FSX ?

What you do then, apply the update ? If yes, do you still see the message after applying the update ? If no, have you selected the "Ignore" option (which will turn off any notification until the next update) or just read the release notes ?

I am also getting the update message frequently.   I ran FSX this morning and it ask to do an update.   The updated version was from 2/20/2012.   I had previously did this update and I also ran the stand alone updater on 2/25/2012.   Not sure what is really happening.

Sorry, but unless you are more precise, I can't see if what you are seeing it's a problem or not.

Does it happen *every* time you start FSX ? Every 24 hours ? Every few days ? Do you perform the update when asked ?

Does the update process returned any errors ? For example, if you allow the updater to run, but cancel it while it was running or it stops because of any error, you'll keep getting update notifications until the update will complete successfully.

Ok

I was a little wrong in my wording.

Here is the deal. I have noted what it says. About every 24 hours (Have not officially timed it), but it does seem once a day, no more than once within a full day of playing the game on and off...it will infact pop up with the notification that
1.) It detects that I am already having the update installed.
2.) I have pressed nothing of the like to check for updates...it does this on its own.
3.) I never go into the addons menu anyways, except for setting my PMDG MD-11 to cold and dark.

It has been stating the 20th for the past few times now, and as stated above, it does in fact say that it is already installed, but I have not clicked anything to check for updates.

Ok, thank you, now I have a much clear picture of what's happening.

It seems that every 24 hours, which is the standard time between checks, you are getting a notification of an update, stating you already have it so, it's basically a useless notification that should't be displayed.

Correct,

Sorry about not stating it correctly in the beginning.
But yes, not that it is a huge problem, but annoying none the less.

Umberto

I use the default B737-800 and airports that are enhanced with ADE9x. My problem appears to be a corrupt airplane. As per the GSX Manual (page 13) I was not getting all the support ground equipment. After identifying that my startup default plane was corrupt and copying a new one off my backup disk I now have a smooth running GSX.

I have run GSX at many airports now and it works as per the Documents.

Thank you for your time and support and once again a great product.

[liveupdate]
major_version_installed = "39baa6a7-7-4b8a1739172c0"
live_version_ignore = "30001821-6f3b2-4b96c913ad0c0"
live_version_installed = 2
last_check = 1330021760.44
major_version_ignore = "39baa6a7-7-4b8a1739172c0"

This is really strange and quite insightful. As you can see, the key "live_version_installed" has the value "2" instead of a much longer GUID similar to the value of "live_version_ignore". I have to check why this is happening.

Anyway, I can confirm that deleting the whole [liveupdate] section from CouatlAddons.ini will do no harm and should fix the problem. In the next update I will make sure this abnormal situation doesn't happen again. I apologize for the inconvenience.
