Boarding and catering at the same time?

Would it be possible for the catering and boarding to occur at the same time?

Or at least let the passenger steps role up to the aircraft when catering is requested?

I start with a cold and dark aircraft, so no unboarding required, but it looks odd that no stairs are connected to the plane during catering loading. How did the pilots get on board?!
