Two things
« on: February 04, 2012, 10:32:47 pm »
I'm sorry if someone asked this question and it's been answered, I looked through the forums and did a search and couldn't find it:

I just bought GSX (and by the way, great product!  Thanks for the work!).  But I am having an issue where the Marshall is bringing me too far forward at the parking spots, then the jetways won't operate.  Some additional remarks - I am using default airport scenery, and if I slew the plane back a bit (where the nose wheel is on the "T") the jetways will work.  I know this has to do with MS's awesome ability that the plane's center will be over the "T", not the nose wheel, and I understand that GSX works based off of the AFCAD files.  So is there anywhere to adjust the configuration so the Marshall will stop the plane so the jetways will work?

Also, I noticed a lot of people talking about possible future options.  How about something that deals with Cargo operations in addition to the passenger ops.  So if you were flying a freighter and parked at a cargo spot, you would have containers lined up and the loader in operation (possibly a forklift or however they work in real life...not too sure about that  :-\ ).  Just a suggestion.

Again, thanks for the awesome product and I look forward to the future possibilities with this!

Just change the parking center with any AFCAD editor, the free ADE it's fine for this. But you might also try to play a bit with its radius, maybe the jetway will start working if you enlarge it a bit, try with small increments.

If there's no airport customization, the Marshaller will always place you with the airplane reference point (the red cross you see in the Top Down view) will be in the center of the parking as indicated by the AFCAD.

Not necessarily, GSX has been designed with the default aiport in mind.  You may have found an outliers.

Well, the airports I have seen it at (so far) are KMSP, KCVG, and KMCO.  Also I am using the PMDG 737-800 on these flights.  I am flying FSX as well.

Are these default airports ?

If yes, can you give an example of an airport and gate that, when you park to, with Engines off and Parking Brakes On, pressing GSX key would present the "Select Parking Facility" menu instead of the Parking Services menu ?

Even if the airport it's default, have you added some custom AFCAD for it ? If yes, which one ?

KMCO and KMSP were default.  KCVG has the added runway (18R/36L), and some objects added (a couple of signs and lights) - but everything else was default.

Anyway, I have no issues with the menu coming up, it is just the Marshall brings me too far forward.  Here are some screen shots at KMSP showing exactly what I am doing.  These were done in the PMDG 737-800 (will do a couple other airports in other planes after I get back home today)

After landing on the runway before pulling off the active I start getting the gate ready - for today we will be going to Gate C:

Now we are going to go to gate C3:

Today, I'm going to request the follow me car:

Follow me car is enroute and working properly:

Got the gate in sight, ground crew is waiting:

At the gate, the Marshall had me stopped (didn't react fast enough to catch the screen shot of him holding the "X").  Informing me to shut down my engines:

Outside view of where he had me stop:

Every other service works just fine, I can have the caterer show up, cargo unloaded, etc...just no jet way:

But if I slew the plane back a bit (which I did on this shot, the nose wheel is on the "T") - the jet way works just fine:

That must be it, in the time you made the screenshot, the airplane went ahead, enough to be in a position were the jetway didn't work anymore (which doesn't have anything to do with GSX, it would have happened the same even without GSX installed)

I tried the same C3 parking at KMSP with the PMDG 737-800, going slowly, and this is where the marshaller telll me to stop:

Well, not exactly what I meant (I didn't respond quick enough with the screen capture button when he told me to stop), but arrived at KCVG and stopped quick enough (coming in at around 1 to 2 on GS) and was able to stop in time and jetway works.  Gotta love user error  :-[, but thanks for assisting me in this!
