Interaction with AES?
« on: February 01, 2012, 04:21:04 am »
How does GSX work along side AES? Does anyone know if AES can just do the jetway part and let GSX do the rest? Or must you deactivate AES for any airport that has GSX activated?

A smart tester suggested that, if you disable all airplane doors in AES (except the main passenger door, most likely), AES will not display ground vehicles, and can be used just to operate the jetway.

However, this trick is valid only if the airplane is supported in the GSX internal database, which has the priority over the intelliscene.cfg .

If the airplane is unknown to GSX, it will try the intelliscene.cfg file, and if there's none, it will try to do its best with the airplane.cfg+simconnect. This means, if you use the "disable doors" trick to disable AES vehicles on an airplane that GSX doesn't support directly, the doors will be disabled for GSX too.

This means that the trick would work for the PMDG 737 series, right?

The PMDG 737 NGX is the most supported airplane, you don't have to worry about config files. Same for the PMDG 747, MD11 and many others, we'll try to post a list of the supported airplanes, but I suspect it will get old very soon...

That kind of list would be nice because I'm looking around for some time now to find exactly that information but I can't.

Great idea. As an fyi, for those using most widebody aircraft you'll want to leave both the L1 &   L2 doors active in AES so those airports with dual jetways get used.
