Cost of products in various currencies

I've always liked FSDreamTeam's products and have several already. But I'm unhappy about how the price is calculated for British customers paying in Pounds Sterling.

Using a standard exchange rate website - http://www.expedia.co.uk - it seems that a very poor exchange rate is being used to convert the US Dollar price into both Euros and Pounds Sterling.

You advertise the price of LAX as 39 USD which using the above website converts to 24.50 UKP. At http://www.xe.com it comes out at 24.47 UKP. A difference of a few pence.

Converting the Euro price of 27.90 it comes out as 23.73 UKP. All these are substantially lower than your listed price of 26 UKP.

Why are your British (and European) customers paying over the odds? Could you not use a more favourable exchange rate?

No, we don't, we only advertise the price in EUR:

The product cost is 27.90 EUR, plus your local VAT rate if you live in the EU. You can choose to be billed in USD or your national currency, during the buying procedure. In this case, prices might change depending on the current Euro value

Nowhere in this website we say the price it's 39 US$, right now, the US$ price is set to 39$, but it might change as explained on the KLAX web page. The price in EUR, which is the one advertised, will always stay the same.

Not European, since they'll always pay 27,90 EUR, which is the advertised price. Of course they'll also pay VAT at their country rate if they don't have a VAT ID, but that's obviously not money we keep, is being transfered to their countries tax offices by Esellerate directly.

In any case, the UK price could be probably lowered by .50 GBP, so it would stay consistent with that 7% increase over the official interbank rate that we calculated to roughly covering both oscillations and all the costs occurring when a currency is converted into another one, as explained in that other thread.

Hi Umberto,

Okay, I accept that you price your products in Euros. That is a surprise as I assumed you were based in the US. In fact I see you're based in Europe so that makes sense.

And having read the other thread I see you add a 7% surcharge to cover conversion to the US Dollar and delays in being paid during which time the dollar may lose ground against the Euro. But it may also strengthen in which case you make a bigger profit.

It's just a shame that the Euro is a very strong currency at the moment and we're all paying because of it. A devaluation would certainly help and might ease the problems in the Eurozone!
