Widening IFLOLS / Trap gauge
« on: November 14, 2011, 07:09:28 pm »

Can someone plese tell me how to re-size the IFLOLS Trap Gauge?

As you can see from the attachment at present the 2 gauges overlap the main screen display.  I would like to widen the distance between them so that the IFL.. is on the edge of the left screen and the Trap Gauge is on the edge of the right.

I have found that by changing the line window_size = 0.550, 1.000 to 1.000, 1.000 in the Panel.cfg file

[Window05]
size_mm      = 1024         // smaller size w/ bigger LCDs (1920x1200) = 300, 100
//position   = 1            // 1 = upper center, 4 = center, 3 = left center
window_size     = 0.550, 1.000 // 0.156,0.083 // window_size= 0.20, 0.204 deflt; 0.156, 0.083 for 300,100 at 1920x1080
                               // window_size= 0.1875, 0.143 for 1024x768; 0.2, 0.204 for 1920x1080
                               // window_size= 0.2, 0.183 for 384, 220 at 1920x1200
window_pos   = 0.000, 0.000 // 0.422, 0.85
background_color= 0,0,0
visible      = 0
ident      = IFLOLS/TrapGauge

gauge00=IFLOLS!IFLOLS.xml, 411, 900, 200, 75 // smaller size, bigger LCDs (1920x1200) = 0, 0, 300, 100
gauge01=Carrier_Landing_Gauge!Carrier_Landing_Gauge.xml, 0, 0, 1024, 1024

I now have a much bigger (and better) IFL.  But I cannot see how to increase the distance between the 2 gauges, currently the on-screen distance between the gauge "centres" is about 18cm as shown in the image.  I would like to increase it to about 25 cm.  I have tried to look for a numerical relationship between what is in the file and the size of the image which appears on the screen but cannot spot it.

I do not understand what the other values mean so would be grateful if someone would please tell me which values to alter.  (I am running 3 monitors with a resolution of 2700 x 1440.)

Thank you,

Tregarth

Tre...

The answer comes in TWO phases. YES, you can move the IFLOLS but you can't move the Trap Gauge. I'm not sure how you got the Trap Gauge to move up to the "middle" of the screen (horizontally), but I'm guessing it has something to do with how your monitors' view is changed.

Now to change the IFLOLS gauge, take these lines and change them and experiment:
Change the upper window size back from 0.550, 1.000 to default 1.000, 1.000, then...

                                         (X-pos) (Y-pos)
gauge00=IFLOLS!IFLOLS.xml, 220, 600, 130, 65 // smaller size, bigger LCDs (1920x1200) = 0, 0, 300, 100
To change the X-pos: SMALLER = LEFT. Y-pos: LARGER = DOWN.

gauge01=Carrier_Landing_Gauge!Carrier_Landing_Gauge.xml, 0, 0, 1024, 1024
As you can see, both X and Y positions are zero and default to the bottom right edge of the screen on my screen.

So therein lies my problem in helping you. I dont know IF you have a special case with your multimonitor setup. I would say look at some of the other FSX sites that have people using XML gauges in multimonitor "changed viewpoint" setups like yours.

Sorry I cant be of more help but I just dont have the data to provide a better answer.

Sludge,

Thank you very much indeed for your reply.

To answer your comment about the positions of the IFL and Trap Gauge, I simply dragged them into position with my mouse.

Using your helpful reply I have kept the line window_size = 1.000, 1.000  (Originally it was 0.550, 1.000 )

Then, since the Trap Gauge is fixed on the right of the screen 0, 0 I simply moved the IFL to the left to increase the spacing between the gauges i.e. in my file the value was

gauge00=IFLOLS!IFLOLS.xml, 411, 900, 200, 75 so I reduced the 411 to 200, keeping the other values constant.

The result is shown in the ScreenGrab.  I have attached a photo of the screens so you can see how the gauges appear on the screens.  (The HUD control is present to help the Trap Gauge become more visible.)

I am very grateful and hope your reply will be of help to others.

Best regards,

Tregarth
