UK/RN Flight Sim HUD View F-35C Carrier Landing Video

I find it interesting that this RN video shows an HUD view (from Helmet Mounted Display I presume) for carrier landing practice on their simulator. It seems the F-35C is not going to have an AoA Indexer as a backup device. The cockpit and controls are only similar (I think) to an F-35C but early days for them. At moment I don't have sound on computer so I'm hoping what they say is worthwhile, Steve Long (shown) is an F-35 test pilot.

Interesting he had hands on stick during launch and not using ACLS for landing.

Pilots will want to deck land manually from at least the quarter mile mark, as they do today, to keep up their skills. Auto landings are for emergencies, foul weather or tired pilots at night after long missions. Other threads have info on this point.

I don't believe the simulator we see is 100% accurate from what I have seen of other US based F-35 simulators - which more or less mimic the real thing - but I could be wrong as we see only vague shots of the controls and panels. We see a pilot hand on stick (but I do not have sound) and it does not appear to be at launch and at other times during launch we don't see inside. I could be wrong. Remember I have not seen in real life either the aircraft or any simulator and can only go on what I see online in videos and photos.

My reason for posting the video / info was to show the HUD view as shown; which to me is interesting, as I like to fly that way with the SLUDGE Hornet also. Sadly the freeware Dino Cattaneo F-35A has a HUD which will not display the AOA properly at Optimum AoA (even though it is the A model flying approaches at faster airspeed).

What do you mean "HUD which will not display the AOA properly at Optimum AoA" ? I set the AOA bracket so that optimum AOA is at 10 degrees AOA.

neutrino, I don't have access to the sim at moment. At a reasonable landing weight when attempting to fly Optimum AoA the bracket is almost below, out of sight, any slight maneuvring puts it out of sight in my setup. I don't recall what the Optimum AoA angle was. Flying the airspeed at whatever the Opt AoA is at the time is not quite the same. I'm not talking about flying an air force approach but a Navy style Optimum AoA approach. At the time of BETA testing some discussion on this was at Dino's website.
