new sims
« on: March 18, 2011, 01:04:27 pm »
Im dead sick of fsx' limitations.

any other great NEW flight sims out there?

I'm yet to give a shot with DCS warthog, so i wanted to know more options b4 i make a decision

i know a few under developement such as

wings of prey (im tired of warbirds, no go)
seven-G (how do i get to test it anyways?)
combat-helo (also dunno if i can test, plus chopper sims, im not really a chopper pilot)
flight gear (is it any good?)
xplane v10 (schedule to be released this year AFAIK, not sure how good it will be also)
MS flight (will probably be fsx with improved graphics, same limitations, same grpahic speed)

other than that, i just googled and found "pro flight simulator" claiming to be the most realistic sim ever. graphics look bad though. anyone knows whats that all about?

need options. thanks

This forum is about FSX Accelerator Hornet. Many threads have been deleted in the past because they were OFF TOPIC. Anyway here is a sim that has been in development ever since whenever - ten years?

im sorry, I agree with you, this is the accel hornet forum, but we found it like 4, 5 years ago, and it became a warm community for all kinds of discussion. I believe some people here feel home and sometimes cross the line ending up posting off topic stuff, just like i did :)

so yeah, if this is way too off topic, a mod can delete it and tell me, so i wont post stuff like this again, but its just that this is a totally different community. I barely check the general discussion forums, and sometimes I check WIP screenshots, but thats all, and i believe many people here do the same, and never check other threads, so thats why i ask it here.

meanwhile, thanks for your answer :)
also, would like to hear oppinions about the other ones I mentioned before.

cheers

I'm not sure what you require from a desktop computer flight simulator. Probably the only one that will satisfy you is out of reach - the F-35 simulator - although you may get a chance to use it one day.

http://www.myfoxtampabay.com/dpp/news/scitech/f-35-simulator-tampa-031811

Until then the most fun I have ever had (mentioned on earlier threads here I'm certain) is with "Pacific Fighters" with maximum number of aircraft - not flying with the latest updates because they ruined the sim - making the aircraft unflyable. I think stopping at upgrade .4 was the limit. I have not flown it (nor have had installed for years) now. While LOMAC - Lock On Modern Air Combat - was always good, just for simple use.

The most realistic flying was with a DOS in Windows wireframe model made by an Australian Uni Prof for the RAAF made available back in the days of Windows 3.1. Sadly the program had to be tailored to individual video cards so it was never upgraded. The flight dynamics were wonderful.

However as far as NavAv goes FSX with the SLUDGE Hornet (thanks to the original Accel Hornet) is the BEST. I have seen others try to do NavAv and they all fail. I'm disappointed that 'ThunderWorks' is so late but that seems to be the only competitor for the excellent combo described - the first ever. Thanks to the hard work of the people on this forum - you know who you are.  ;D

Personally I'm not that interested in prop flight sims (although PacFighters is FUN in melees) but here is a UTUBE video showing a newie:

Max the resolution and go full screen.

Fael...

Cant wait to see what 7G has up for us, the development is looking promising and they have a Canadian active duty pilot as a reference for their legacy Hornet build.  The systems, airframe, and handling all look great.

Also, Ive heard some cross-talk on other forums about the next DCS bird being a Hornet.  Just dont know if thats true or not?  That would be awesome as well.  Who knows, maybe Thrustmaster could time a new Hornet HOTAS release with that as well?  Man, I miss the ole Suncom F-15E HOTAS setup.  I had one, but it broke and could never find another.

Next DCS might be an F-16 as they have done screenshots of a pit already but it could be anything fingers crossed though an F-16 would rock.

theres a poll on their website:

F/A-22 Raptor       136    10.18%
FA-18E Super Hornet    856    64.07%
F-14 TomCat       243    18.19%
F-35 Lightning       101    7.56%

though it was probably created by a regular user (im sure they wouldnt even consider an f22 or an f35)

so yeah, 18 or 16, anything will rock. i hope its the 16 though, cuz we already have brilliant f-18s.

but subs, can you post a link to the shots?

So far the Beta is quite good and this sim has alot of potential as you can climb out of the pit and walk around and walk inside buildings etc. The current map shows Seattle and the devs have mentioned a near DCS level of detail(walk around may also include the possiblity of birds nests!) . Also a mod to combine Arma3 with Take on Helicopters so that you can fly an Apache etc with more realistic Flight model could be possible. Unlike FSX the helicopters feature trim and auto trim and the helicopter is more difficult to hover than the original A2OA FM.

And this is a screenshot of A3.

Latest announcement states development has started on the next DCS addon aircraft also they have started improving the CBU97:

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=78046

As it is I am addicted to DCS A-10C it took me a couple of weeks to figure it out effectively quite alot of study is required to learn to fly it but what an awesome extremely cheap sim. Best value for money compared to some sims I've seen in the past. So far I've got inflight refuelling, weapons delivery down pat the only hangup is the hung stores when I mistakenly depress the pickle button too short for JDAMs. Maybe a few more missions might fix that and I've only scratched the surface of what DCS can do but me and my friends in Seawolves Virtual Navy have clocked up a few hours in it. The best weapon of course is the Avenger cannon which is like a 30mm sniper rifle because of the GUNPAC switch which accounts for the recoil with trim so its a steady shot to pick off vehicles.(try using the gun without it)

Proflight Simulator is a ripoff of Flightgear...the exact same program but they charge an arm and a leg for it.

Sure ! As a falcon's fanboy (I played Falcon's 1st version in the early 90s with an Amiga 500), I was waiting this release with impatience.

I'ts a new evolution of my favorite sim, who is not ready to die. Many big thanks to the BMS team.
