Update for JFK FSX
« on: November 28, 2010, 10:38:13 pm »
I just downloaded JFK a few days ago for FSX. Great scenery I must say! My home airport and the scenery looks just like it! First of all, since I downloaded it a few days ago, is it updated to the fullest or do I need to go through the forum and download all updates listed? Second of all, are you guys planning on making an update? Possibly adding the grass & ground textures like you have in DFW and better FPS performance? And updating runway 31L/13R? I feel JFK is one of your most popular airports (well, now that LAX is coming, I am not sure) and should be updated like it is brand new! Just a thought. Thanks!

The installer on the web site is always the most current available which contains all the fixes that might have been posted on the forum along the product life. We usually redo the installer very soon after an updated file is released so, if you downloaded today, your JFK doesn't need any updates.

We are internally discussing the chance to update previous products to the latest design methods, as seen in KDFW, but the final decision is depending on many factors, not all related to the product itself, but the market as large, especially in the next 1-2 years.

I see what you are saying. I vote out of all your scenery's to update JFK :) And if you do update them will the people that have previously purchased them get the update for free? Thanks for the help!

As I've said, we haven't even decided if it would be feasible or not to update JFK or any of the other products, to KDFW standards so, it's rather impossible right now to say under which conditions will be distributed.

Frankly, out of all the FSDT products I own which is all of them except Hawaiin stuff, I think the only one that really needs the update is the JFK scenery, not including the newer runway at KORD. Even though Zurich and KORD are older, they still look good and perform well.

The main thing with JFK that I would like to see updated is the runway/taxiway textures to have snow on them in the winter like KORD has, and maybe an update on the taxiway lighting so that it doesn't pop into or out of view and remains constantly static like the other sceneries.

I would be willing to pay an upgrade cost of say an additional $20 or so for it to be brought upto the more current standards of KDFW.

Hopefully Umberto and crew will find that an update of some sort would be feasible without cutting too much into developement time of new sceneries. We shall stay tuned and see what happens.

I agree with you there. JFK does need a few updates and I would also pay money for them. New York - JFK is a great scenery and with a few updates to make it to KDFW standard's it could be there best scenery! JFK is my home airport and I would love to see it updated to look even more like the real thing!
