ATC Assigned Parking
« on: September 20, 2010, 08:58:19 pm »
I recently purchased JFK and need some help using the ParkMe feature. I searched through the forum and didn't find what I'm looking for. Each time I land at JFK the runway ATC assigns me doesn't coorespond to any of the available runways in the ParkMe selections (looking at the conversions). I understand that the ParkMe gates have a different designation than the FSX assignment, but each FSX gate ATC assigns me isn't listed with a cooresponding gate for JFK. If I randomly pick a gate from the ParkMe selection I can't identify where the gate is at the airport. Thanks for looking.  ???

The ParkMe feature doesn't have any effect on what the ATC will do. The ATC will still function as it always had, which means you can't freely decide where to park.

The ParkMe feature works separately so, regardless of what the ATC has decided, you can freely select any parking. It can be the same parking the ATC gave you, or an entirely different one, that's your choice. The ParkMe will then activate a docking system in that parking, and give you an evaluation of the parking accuracy at the end.

Ok, that makes sense, thanks for the quick response.  Please bear with me learning this. My question is then if I randomnly select a parking gate through ParkMe how do I find the gate? or If I  pull up to a gate how do I identify which one it is in ParkMe to start it? I thought all I saw was a number on the ground for all the gates, no terminal letter designations. I have randomnly opened various gates in ParkMe but was unsuccessful finding it when taxing around the teriminls. I appreciate your help.

Following taxiway signs and a map, like pilots do...here's some map of the terminals at JFK

http://www.airportterminalmaps.com/JFK-terminal-map.html

Just note that, because of limitations in how FSX lets assign names to gates (it's not possible, for example, to have something like "Terminal 1 gate A1, A2...B1, B2..." which real-world JFK has ), the terminals are named differently in FSX, but the ParkMe menu will give you the matching between real-world names and the FSX names.
