Idee : Dubai Al Maktoum International airport
« on: September 05, 2010, 01:05:11 pm »
Hello,

Firstly, congratulations for your work !!!! It's really huge !!!!

I would like to present this project, The Dubai Al Maktoum International airport or the DWC Airport (Dubai World Center)...
Today, the current airport was the 15th busiest airport in the world by passenger traffic handling 40.9 million passengers in 2009 (The airport was also the 4th busiest airport in the world by international passenger traffic) and every year is between 4 and 7 million more, that's why, the Dubai Al Maktoum International Airport is under construction. More over, Emirates has ordered 90 Airbus A380, 50 A350 ....

So, a map of this future Airport,

even if this project does not interest you, a small reply will be nice !!!!

For more information, ask me or visit this link

(Sorry for my bad english)

Best Regards,

Jérémy

Me neither, not within reasonable flight distance to any payware I have installed at the moment.
Of course, that might change by the time the airport is released.  ;)

If he is undertaking this project I'd fly to it . It doesnt have to be within any payware cause I often fly from and to default airports all the time.Other wise it would be a small world for me. :)

It's a small world for all of us, you realize how many airports there are in the world?  ;D

Looks like Atlanta has moved to the Middle East, some big similarities in airport layout. Very neat!  ;D

If it is contuniuly getting upgrades, then the scenery will be out of dated pretty quickly, right?

Not really.
Currently, it comprises only one runway, a cargo terminal, and a single low-cost terminal that will open early next year (?).
The worked slowed down due to the world economy slow down, so there should not be "much" growth for a while.

I believe that once it is "mature" in say ten years or so, they will probably shut down the existing Dubai airport, and move everything to this behemoth.

P.S. I do not particularly like the design, and favor something more like a double H design.
I am not an expert, but it seems to me that traffic has to do a lot of "hold short of runway" as they taxi to the terminals.
But then again, it has not stopped Atlanta being the worlds busiest.
