Installer Crashing Windows 7
« on: August 24, 2010, 06:56:35 pm »
Forgive me if this has been answered previously, but I cannot get the Cloud9 installers (.exe's) to load in Windows 7 x64. I have tried running them as an administrator and in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode and it makes no difference. Windows prompts me with the usual .exe file warning, I click "Run," and then the program crashes. I have also done this with my antivirus turned off and that did not change anything. Any idea what is going wrong?

It might be your installshield engine files are corrupted or outdated, try the explanation found here:

Of course, this refers to the setup.exe found on a typical game on a CD, just do it the same for the Cloud9 executable.

I tried that link but my installer is up to date. To make sure it wasn't an isolated incident, I tried it on another one of my computers. It is also running Windows 7 64bit and the same error happens. I click yes to run the program and within less than a second of it launching, the installer closes with no explanation or error given.

Have you tried disabling the antivirus before installing ?

Yes. It didn't seem to make a difference. I will say that my other installers for your sceneries work with no issue. I just can't get these ones for Cloud9 to run.

When the Windows crash message appears, it's possible to see the error details ?

No. The program opens and summarily closes within less than a second of launching. No error warning, sound, or any type of message is ever generated.
