Unable to turn on ILS
« on: August 05, 2010, 10:39:34 pm »
I select ILS / enter channel 26 / enter / type ILS code / enter / HSI select ILS / enter course hdg. The ILS remains OFF.

Any ideas where I am going wrong? Thanks in advance.

First, check that you selected the correct X or Y channel. And, you need put the HSI in ILS mode.

Thanks so far. Ah, you mention selecting the X or Y channel. Thanks. The tutorial below does not mention that.

Yes, because on that tutorial, the ILS was selected by typing the frequency. If you type the frequency, the airplane will automatically figure out the correct Channel and X or Y.

If, instead, you use the Channel (perhaps, because you have a military map), you need to be careful if it's X or X.

Right, the plot thickens. I entered 1105 for EGSS. If I entered 110500 I receieved an error.

You can't enter 6 digits, the maximum is 5 so, either you enter 1105, or you enter 11050, not 110500
