Most times when restarting the program, even after a crash, it will no longer be able to detect what aircraft type you're using, and thus won't use the proper GSX profile.

I'm sorry, but it's impossible an airplane that could be read on a normal start won't be read on a restart, unless something very wrong is happening, like the airplane switching its name in the middle of a flight.

Instead of a screenshot, two GSX diagnostic logs, one before another after a restart, would help, since they would report all the data we are getting back from the sim.

I haven't had it happen again, maybe it was a fluke, maybe some other change you did fixed it, but it happened several times before I made this thread but it hasn't happened since.

Nope, just happened again. Couatl crashed/closed sometime over night during a long haul, reloaded it after I landed and it's saying it can't read the aircraft type.

A350 again, but I've had it happen with other aircraft, like the A330 before.

Which file is diagnostic log?

GSX Manual, Page 38, explains how to enable logging.

here are the logs, this time it was in the Asobo 737 Max 8, couatl crashed during the flight.

It's not possible those logs are really "before" and "after" a crash, since one is made by the MSFS 2024 version of the Couatl engine, the other one by the MSFS 2020 engine. Are you sure you are not mixing different logs from different sessions ?

A possible reason for this, your couatl64_boot.exe (the auto-restarter) might be very outdated, from a version before 2024 came out so, it only knew about MSFS 2020 so, when it detected the 2024 version crashed, it restarted the 2020 version, because it's months old, so it doesn't support the 2024 version of the Couatl engine.

Of course, the auto-restarter is automatically updated by the FSDT Installer like anything else so, it's not normal it would be so much outdated, but that's the only possible reason for your logs looking the way they do.  So, run another update CHECK again, possibly after restarting Windows.

No, it's the same session. I had the folder open when the sim was running.

Oh my lord, you're right.
I forgot to update my coautl shortcut, it's still pointing to the 2020 exe. Would explain why it was only happening on crashes not a forced restart

I feel like an idiot, you can close this thead now
