FSDT Universal Installer Live Update question
« on: April 05, 2025, 08:19:04 pm »
I have the MSFS2020, MSFS2024, P3Dv4 and P3Dv5 installed in the same PC machine. After updating the msfs2020 do I have to switch to msfs2024 and to repeat the update? Or the Live Update takes care of all sims at once?
Also, after Live Update is complete, is it recommended to restart the PC machine?

It's when you have more than one simulator installed, that you'll see first hand how much efficient and easy to use our updater is, because:

- Everything made by FSDT is installed outside the sim, in the Addon Manager folder. This is valid for P3D4/5/6, MSFS 2020 and 2024.

- The Live Update operates only over files the Addon Manager, so a single update (using the Live Update icon) will update everything at once, for all simulators.

When using MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 at the same time, the only thing you need to do to install into one simulator is:

1) Install in any of the two.

2) Select the other simulator and click RELINK

It doesn't matter which simulator you started from, if you started in 2020, install there, select 2024 and click Relink. Or, install into 2024, select 2020 and Relink (it's not already installed)

Not only this will make the above update process faster and easier, because you update the ONE copy of every FSDT product for MSFS you have installed at the same time, but you'll also save A LOT of disk space, because every product is installed only once. This is not any different than having two P3D products installed in P3D4 and P3D5.

Umberto, after selected "Update All" from the FSDT Universal Installer I never saw "Relink" for MSFS2020 or MSFS2024. It stays as "Installed" instead.
Does it sound like normal?

You are not supposed to see RELINK after an Update all. RELINK will appear if:

- You installed only in one simulator, and still haven't Relinked in the other.

- You Uninstalled something, but didn't reply YES to the 2nd question about *really* uninstalling (removing from disk). If you reply YES to the 1st question but NO to the 2nd one, the product won't be really uninstalled, it will be just UNLINKED, so it will show RELINK. This is a quick way to *disable* a product without removing it, so it can be re-enabled again very quickly.
