passenger walkways
« on: March 18, 2025, 09:22:44 pm »
Hi....I don't want ANY jetways or buses at ANY of my payware airports.
All I want is to have the passenger 'walkways' be established from the terminals.

Is there something I should check box in any of the settings ???
Or do I modify something in the .cfg (ini) file ???

I've checked the box"never jetway"....but they are still there !!
Thanks for the help

The “never jetways” option probably only applies to default airports or perhaps GSX injected ones.

If they’re SODE you’ll need to rename the relevant SODE file. Can you be specific about which you’re trying to edit?
Cheers,
Ray.

Hi Ray...
I've made a file showing the result of 'building a passenger walkway'
for each of the aiports i have.
But I don't know how to upload it to this forum to show you !
I can't seem to find a method using the 'search' topic.

Hi Skip,

It would help if you could name a few airports where you’re trying to do this.

One suitable one is UK2000 Liverpool where the majority of positions require walkways from a single storey building.

This video by Umberto describes how simple it is to create them.

Cheers,
Ray.

Hi Ray....
I think I've narrowed down the problem with walkways NOT being created.
ALL my 'FlightBeam' airports are displaying the SAME message when I go to 'Customize Airport Positions'
The 3 boxes on the top left of that menu show TYPE;PARKING SYSTEM and JETWAY(s).
In the JETWAY(s) box thay are ALL showing "parking has 1 SODE xml jetway"and this boz is GREYED-OUT.
These airports are KIAD;KDEN;KMSP;KPHX;KSFO
Do you think this is relevent????
And how do I handle it ?
Thanks for your time and patience.

Hi Skip. You can’t replace a jetway with pax walkways. Looking at KIAD gate A601 you can create walkways there as there are no jetways.

At that gate select “don’t create jetways”. Passenger bus = never.

Position an external view to the left and above the aircraft so you can see the building entrance and the left forward pax door.

Then follow Umberto’s video. Dead simple. Screenshot to follow.

Thanks Ray ...
Don't know 'if I screwed the pooch'....but I have completely abandonded/deleted SODE from my computer !!
All my planes are too small to use 'jetways'....so why even have it ????
Can I survive without it ????
Will GSX still be able to build 'passenger walkways' ??
Thanks for all your help !!

Why didn’t you wait until I replied? I suggest you reinstall SODE but use v1.71, not 1.8 for it to work correctly.

It might help if you told me your aircraft. 737 is fine for that gate at KIAD once you open GSX customisation window and click the small aircraft icon to keep GSX happy.

Come back when you’ve done tgat.
Cheers,
Ray.

Hi Ray....
Please don't think I'm being brash or rude...but I have NO desire to fly any aircraft other than the several dual engine
turbo-props flying commercially..
I'm too old and slow reacting to try to keep up with ANY type of jet engined craft.
So I don't even need the jetways at any airport, since the jetway is incapable of serving my aircraft....which are too small
for them to reach.
I'm very happy with these slow movers at low altitudes.
Reminds me of flying to Great Britain in 1952 aboard a BOAC Boeing Stratocruiser....flying low and slow....
my preferred style. Thanks for your concern !!!

Skip, I wasn’t suggesting you fly the 737. The size of aircraft you are using won’t fit at any gate with a jetway.

So my advice still stands. Find parking positions at airports where passengers enter from a single storey building. Like in my picture above. That’s all you need.
Cheers,
Ray.
