Huge lag spike after engine shut down
« on: February 02, 2025, 07:43:28 am »
Pretty much every single time I shut down my engines, and GSX opens the menu there is massive lag spike as the menu opens. Is there some sort of option to disable the menu automatically opening on engine shut down? It breaks the immersion and the sounds of the aircraft get all buggy.

On top of this, 9 times out of 10 when I go to request boarding all the service equipment disappears for no reason. Almost as if Couatl has crashed but it hasn't (Windows warning sound in the video is from SimBitWorld telling me the flight has been logged). I have to either restart Couatl, or shut it down manually and then restart it via the .exe (which I have pinned to my start menu because this happens pretty much every single time, or just need to restart it often)

There is also no Couatl.log file that I can attach. There as not been one created. The .err file is the best I can do which is in the Mega link because I can't attach it here.

GSX surely doesn't open the menu when you shut down the engines, you must have some 3rd party automation doing it.

A log file won't be created automatically unless you enable logging, an .ERR file would be created, but only if there has been an error in that session.

There is only one thing that looks like an error in your log, and seems caused by a problem with jetways, most likely bad data coming from Navdata, as if there was a conflict with another scenery ( GSX replacement jetways not disabled on a 3rd party scenery ? ), but it might also be caused by other reasons, like actually bad data in the scenery, like missing/orphaned jetways, but also issues in the Navdata API itself, possibly caused by having reached the maximum limit of objects, after which Simconnect either stops responding or respond with bad data.

Sure you can, by zipping the .err file first.

I can assure you, there is no third party software the manipulates GSX. That being said, the aircraft in this demonstration is the FSS E-175 which does have GSX integration which is disabled via the EFB. Unless this GSX integration is the reason the menu pops up after engine shut down.

But what about the other issue that I reported? When requesting GSX, everything disappears and I have to restart Couatl in order to get the program to function.

Unless this GSX integration is the reason the menu pops up after engine shut down.

Since GSX doesn't do that, it can't be anything else.

Can't reproduce it, please provide reproduction steps, possibly with a default airplane or one we support internally (like Fenix, PMDG, etc.) and either a default airport or an FSDT airport.

Try this

While in flight, request parking at your destination once the option becomes available (airport [PLANNED]). Select parking spot, click the GSX tab to close the menu, (not the X, click the actual GSX tab on the dropdown menu. But this issue happens regardless most of the time, just more prominent when you close the tab from the drop down menu). I do this because the sizing cursor gets in the way. Land, taxi in, opened GSX again, select deboarding. For me, almost every single time all ground service vehicles disappear regardless of what scenery I am using. iniBuilds LAX, iBlueYonder PDX, BMW SEA to name a few, freeware sceneries, it doesn't matter.

As for the menu popping up, there has to be a reason. I know MSFS has an 'End Flight' option after engines shut down, but that is disabled. Maybe it's related to that? Because that would open up a menu as well.

As I've said, I can't reproduce neither of the two issues.

However, a some very dense airport, hitting the maximum number of Simobjects will make objects disappear. More precisely, GSX is correctly removing the default ground vehicles at the gate, to replace them with its own, and it DOES replace them but, when you are over the maximum Simobject limit, objects are created, but are not displayed in the sim. Nothing we can do about it, it's just the simulator which decided there are too many objects already, so it won't display all of them.
