Reseting Jetway to default.
« on: November 28, 2024, 09:20:15 pm »
Could not restore default Jetway in KMEM

Stock Jetway in KMEM that I tried to adjust.

I had to restore my entire Hard Drive just to get that one jetway back like it originally was and it has, I did it the hard way.
I've read some previous posts here about this but the description of pressing a restart button was a bit vague to me. I glanced over the GSX manual on how to make
changes and a reset was mentioned. I tried to make the GSX panel to restore and all when I went back to my saved settings the messed up jet way reappeared.
Somehow, the jet way had a custom logo on it, did not know how to get rid of it and go back to a blank one. So, I would appreciate info as to how to get the defaut
jet way back. As I mentioned, I found the section in the GSX manual on how to do a reset but when I thought I was doing that, nothing changed. Please have bear with
me as I tried all the keys offered in the edit mode and did not have any luck. Thanks.

Okay, I've read on some pages here that the GSX control Panel is what is used to reset the jetway(s) to default.

https://ibb.co/gP9x51K

I had tried to modify a jet way and  I made a mess, so I wanted to go back to the way it was. I was at KMEM, P3DV5.4;
I did try to disable default jetways hoping that would restore it, Well, it didn't. I had closed P3D V5.4 when I was doing that.
The messed up jetway was still there and no matter what I did, I could not restore it. I had to restore my HD (I know that was the hard way)
But what could I do when I could not get the default Jetway back? I did read Page 4 of the GSX Manual. I did not save anything, just closed
P3DV5.4 and later when I returned, the default jetway did not return. I thought that once an edit is made in GSX that you had to manually save
it.

Jetways at KMEM can't be customized, because they are added from a special internal database. Just remove your custom airport profile, by selecting the whole airport (which will select all gates) and RESET.

So Where is this custom airport profile located? I suspect it is an GSX.ini file located in the scenery folder.
From the what I understand you are saying, all I had to do to restore the jet way to its original appearance is
to find this ini and delete it and things would return back to original. I didn't read any info that KMEM could not
be customized.  Thanks for the information.

It should be here: C:\Users\[YourName]\AppData\Roaming\virtuali\GSX

Using your coordinates I found them. So all I had to do to reset my jetways to default is delete the KMEM*.ini file correct?

I can't tell you whether deleting the ini-file will really solve your problem, but the file you mention (KMEM*.ini) is the custom airport file for Memphis, right.

There was no need to find the profile. You can reset it from the normal user interface, as I've said in my previous reply:

And you also said this:

I was searching for the custom profile (had no idea where it is) and you say select whole airport, using what to do this?

The GSX control panel?  I can manage to customize settings in the KMEM and using the keypads for making adjustments, I can cycle through the jetway and
service vehicles and adjust them. Thing is, if I wanted to go back to the way it all was, I have a time of it getting it all back. I know you are telling me how this is
done, but I needed a deeper dive into what you have told me so far.

Just remove your custom airport profile, by selecting the whole airport (which will select all gates) and RESET.

They keyword here was BY, meaning you remove your custom profile, BY doing the rest of the sentence.

The "whole airport" means the "Airport" node in the airport customization page (the left tree-like hierarchy of parking spots), which will select all parking spots at once and, if you RESET when all parking spots are selected, the whole profile will be removed.

Since you said you tried to customize jetways, I assumed you were familiar with the airport customization page.

Okay, I now understand all that.

1. Go to the airport customization screen.
2.  Select ALL parkings.
3. Click on the RESET button.

After accomplishing the above, will GSX2 immediately reset all jetways to original (at least I hope so)
or what else is left to do?

My question to you is why can't I just select the gate that I hosed and hit reset or is it that's it's set up for all or none?

I wanted to post an image here but postimage is down for now.

Did you try it to see if it would let you.

I did and it does.....So it looks like I can select one parking spot (Jetway) modify all or any ground support equipment & Jetway and go back and reset it to default settings.
