Change Community Directory for MS2024
« on: November 21, 2024, 05:58:47 pm »
I moved my community directory for MSFS 2024, but the installer still has the original community directory listed.  How do I change the target for 2024.  The target for 2020 was changed, but that is correct in the installer.

The installer will find MSFS 2024 in the folder specified by the UserCFG.opt, same as MSFS 2020, just different location for the  UserCFG.opt file.

We only had a small issue in the first release, where if the InstalledPackagesPath line in the UserCFG.opt file was empty for some reason, the Community folder couldn't be found but, we changed it and, in that case, the folder is assumed to be the "Packages" folder under the location where the UserCFG.opt file is located, which we verified is what is used in that case, so if you use the latest installer (just starting it will update it automatically), it should work even if your UserCFG.opt was in that state (never happened in MSFS 2020, must be an 2024-specific problem ).

Also, the simulator will automatically fix an UserCFG.opt with an empty InstalledPackagesPath string, so even before our update, running the sim again would have fixed the file just the same.

I set up a new community folder in a different drive.  The installer still shows the "packages" folder.  Should I delete the community folder in Packages and will the installer then find the new community folder?

Assuming you did it in the correct way ( through the Marketplace settings icon ), you can be sure the installer will detect it. Of course, you must do it with the FSDT Installer closed, and you should start it after you changed the Community folder in MSFS 2024, because the installer is not constantly monitoring the folders while it's running.

I have the same issue.

I went to install GSX Pro, the launcher found the location straightaway, however, I noticed it was going to install on my C drive.

I moved the Community folder via MSFS2024 Library, and then re-launched FSDT Installer, and it can no longer see MSFS2024 installed.

Yearh... I seem to have the same issue.

I have moved the Community folder to a different disk, but the installer cannot see any Flight Simulators installed (I have uninstalled MSFS2020 and have ONLY MSFS2024 installed).
Best regards, Anders

Seems to be working after changing the UserCfg.opt file to the correct path for the Community folder.
