REQUEST - add "System Default Device" to Audio Devices
« on: November 07, 2024, 11:32:55 am »
Hello!

As much as I love GSX, there is one feature (missing) that annoys me during on most of my flights. As a VR flyer, I often switch between VR and 2D. When I switch over, my audio switches, too, from my PC speakers to my VR headphones. Only the GSX audio doesn't, because GSX, in contrary to MSFS, doesn't use "System Default Device" as an audio output option. With my VR goggles & headphones on, I don't hear my desktop speakers. I miss the "release handbrake" command, for example. Every time I switch, I have to go into GSX Settings and change THREE audio devices (Comms, Cockpit, Audio) to my VR device audio. When switching back to 2D, I have to go through the same process again and switch to my internal sound card as the active audio device. Very annoying!

Changing the output device under Windows / Audio / Sound Mixer for GSX doesn't help.

Is there a chance to add "System Default Device" to the list auf Audio Devices under GSX Settings / Audio. This would make the life of us VR flyers so much easier - thank you!

Or is there another solution?

This has been already explained: it's not just a matter of adding a ""System Default Device", it's adding support for switching the audio device dynamically, which is planned, but we don't have an ETA for it.
