GSX Failing to update
« on: September 21, 2024, 07:17:49 pm »
Hello
I'm having a problem with GSX Pro where it will not update.

Picture not showing but the address is correct.

https://ibb.co/Pjz0NNT

The error is "Error in Download Task". Whenever I try to run a "Check" on GSX I'm getting the error in the pic in that link. After I click "OK" the installer "quiet crashes" without any other error message,

I have tried the following and none have worked:
Deleted the PackagesCache and UpdateCache
Deactivated GSX then Reactivated it
Renamed the MSFS2020 EXE.XML and let it rebuild fresh
Turned off Windows Firewall

Please advise on how to proceed.

Thank you.

Ran the updater today. The installer saw the update and I clicked to install. The installer quiet crashed before I could get s snapshot.
Correction: Problem persists

I have the same issue which started for me when trying to update to 3.3.3 (all previous updates would complete without any errors)
The only way I can update is by downloading the addonmgr , restarting in SAFE mode and running it. GSX seems to be working ok in the sim

i don't have any virus protection nor am I behind a firewall.

The only way I can update is by downloading the addonmgr , restarting in SAFE mode and running it.

That's likely because if you start Windows in Safe more, it will disable the conflicting software like an antivirus or firewall that is blocking the download. So, check again this:

- The whole Addon Manager folder must be added to the Antivirus EXCLUSIONS

- You shouldn't have a software firewall running (especially if it's a 3rd party) so, either turn it off, or give explicit permission to go online both Couatl_Updater.exe files
