MSFS loading times
« on: March 22, 2024, 11:29:34 am »
Hi,

When using GSX, it adds about 2min40s loading time to MSFS!?? When not using GSX MSFS loads about 2min40s faster!

It's great all those FSDT installer updates but if it means adding more and more time for MSFS to load?

Uninstalled...

GSX Manual, Page 93, the paragraph named MSFS takes longer to start with GSX installed, which not only explains why this is normal, but also what you can do to reduce the loading time.

Big tip - make sure the GSX files are excluded in your MS Defender and any other anti-virus software. It still adds a minute to the load time, but is much quicker than without.

Yes, that was the idea, MSFS loads faster without GSX. Virtuali should make some changes to GSX so the loading time is back to normal? Or the user have to downgrade his bought experience?
Didn't want disable all airport services, but if really only option to get MSFS load faster then so be it..

Thanks

Every product that comes with a very large collection of objects and texture WILL affect the startup time. AI Traffic packages, with thousands of files do that too. If GSX had less operators, it will likely load faster. If your AI traffic pack had less airlines, it will likely load faster.

So, are you trying to suggest we should "modify" GSX to have LESS operators that service your airplane? Wouldn't that be a way worse "downgrade of the bought experience"?

If the startup time is really a problem for you, the manual suggests the more sensible choice, which is disabling the AirportServices which, if you read the explanation on the manual, DO NOT service your airplane, unless you don't even use GSX. If you use GSX proper, the operators available to you won't be affected by having Disabled the airport service, AT ALL.

And even AI would be affected marginally, it's not as if AI would lack ground services with Airport Services disabled: it's just their operator selection (for AI only!) will be less precise, because instead of being assigned "by airport", they would be assigned "by region", but you still see AI being serviced.

Hello,
I applied the advice in the chapter "MSFS takes longer to start with GSX installed"

When I call GSX: OK
Jetway: OK
Boarding: I receive an error message.

What did I do wrong? Thanks in advance.
