GSX Pushback Stuttering Animation
« on: July 22, 2024, 03:23:01 pm »
Hey guys...

while the pushback procedure starts the movement of the truck and with that also the plane is not fluid its a kind of stutteing. It is not a stuttering that is something is limited (CPU / GPU). The simulator runs fine with stable fps, but the pushback is stocking a little bit. It happens on every plane when using GSX... This problem was not there since I started using GSX ...

can someone help ?M  ???

Doesn't happen here but, of course, if you said which airplane you are using, it might be possible to say more, since some airplanes have custom ground handling running that should ideally be turned off by the airplane if GSX is pushing (developers can detected that), because if two addons are trying to set the airplane position at the same time, it would cause stuttering.

Another possible reason is not running with a locked frame rate, because this cause an increase of traffic on Simconnect, since it's not possible to set a fixed datarate, so we are forced to update every frame so, the higher your original (not doubled by frame generation or other tricks) fps is, the higher strain you put on the sim.

I think it has something to do with the second reason you said... so I run the sim at 120 FPS locked via Nvidia Control pannel. Gsync is activated in fullscreeen mode. What might be wrong?

kind regards

The issue is, if you lock fps with the NVidia Control Panel, the simulator doesn't know that. Assuming you reached 120 fps using frame generation, your real frame rate is probably about 60 fps, but if you had to lock it in NCP, it might have been even higher, and that's what the simulator uses to synchronize Simconnect.

So, for example, if your real frame rate was 70, you are more than doubling traffic over Simconnect compared to a typical 30 fps locked in the sim. And not just that, since the fps lock happens outside the sim, the real simulator fps is not constant, so it's likely going up/down a lot, and this ALSO increase the perceived stuttering, because the Simconnect inherhent lag is not able to compensate with fps fluctuations, because they are not locked with each other.

That's why, it's probably best to lock the fps in the sim as well, so it won't even try to do more frame than that, keeping Simconnect traffic under control.

Setting the FPS to unlimited in NCP solved the issue. Thx for your help !  8)
