Trial period
« on: July 07, 2023, 10:31:28 pm »
I purchased KDFW from SimMarket on 07/19/21
Order #277558
Downloaded with my AV Avast off.....Ran 'as admin' with Avast off..
Whenever I go to 'Add On' manager in the P3dv5.4 menu....I get the FSDT page that tells me I am in "Trial Mode"
I click on 'Register ' and get the following message...

"The Couatl scripting engine hasn't started. This is usually caused by an antivirus that has blocked it.
Configure the antivirus and add F:\P3Dv5 Add Ons\Add On Manager folder to the antivirus Exclusion list.
Launch the FSDT update, or re-install the software"

I have added the folder to my Exclusion list....and re-installed the software ...several times with the same results.
Running P3Dv5.4 on Win 10 64bit

Any help would be appreciated

Enable logging by adding this:

logFile="C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Virtuali\Couatl.log"

to your Couatl.ini file.

No, that is CouatlAddons.ini file where you should not add that. Add that to this file: Couatl.ini
Also consider enabling logging if not already.

Hi Captain...
Under 'users'**********\Virtuali
That's the 'only.ini file ' I find
"CouatlAddon.ini"
Maybe I haven't generated the right files for Dallas-Ft worth ???

Looking in my Registry....I have FSDT GSX...
But no entry  for Virtuali

And after trying to download again with Avast 'off'...I'm still getting  "in trial mode only" message

Do the following instead:

1- Copy "CouatlAddon.ini" to outside of the folder and rename it to "Couatl.ini"
2- Open the edited file and replace all the text with this:

"logFile=C:\Users\Skip\AppData\Roaming\Virtuali\Couatl.log"

Save it.
3- Copy the edited file "Couatl.ini" into the Virtuali Folder

You are assuming here you are supposed to see other things in the .INI file, but that's not what the .INI is used for. You use the .INI file to enable logging, that's it.

If you do it correctly, when the program starts, you are supposed to see A NEW FILE, called Couatl.LOG, in the path you specified there. In fact, I suggest not adding a path, which will only increase the chance of mistakes, instead, make the line as simple as this:

logFile=Couatl.LOG

which will create the Couatl.LOG file in the current folder, the same with the .INI you edited.

If you still don't see the Couatl.LOG file, it means the problem is REALLY the antivirus, because if it blocked it, it blocked the log creation as well.

I opened "Couatl.ini" and changed the text to "logFile=Couatl.LOG" and saved.
Made sure I had added an "Exception" to my Avast AV.
Started P3Dv5.4 and started sim menu. Clicked on"Add-On" and got the FSDT Mngr.
Clicked on "Register Serial" and received the same message "The Couatl scripting engine hasn't started...etc,etc"
Opened the Couatl.ini file and found only...."logFile=Couatl.LOG"
still stumped...

Then I can only repeat this:

If you still don't see the Couatl.LOG file, it means the problem is REALLY the antivirus, because if it blocked it, it blocked the log creation as well.

I recently uninstalled GSX 1&2 ....due to all sorts of complications.
Do I need to have GSX installed in order to get KDFW to work ??
Thanks
