Will you ever... (part 1)
« on: April 09, 2023, 08:16:14 pm »
Will you, FSDT, ever give us, the users, the opportunity to choose wether we want to to use that buggy SU12 API?

This is part 1. More request to give us, the user, to choose wether we want to use GSX so called features, will follow.
My GSX test scenario (unless otherwise stated):
Sandbox environment
GSX v 2.9.1 (as of 20 Jan 2023)
Fenix A320, PMDG 737-800, ATR-72
EDDL (JustSim), EDDK (Aerosoft), both not Marketplace
GSX jetways disabled
no AI traffic
no antivirus or firewall software running
all apps started in admin mode

Please don't speak for others!  If you have problems, it's your problem and not automatically of all users!

You can disable it in one of the config files. It's not hard to find.

This kind of attitude, other than being factually wrong, considering how many settings GSX has, quite annoying. And even more annoying is the fact YOU posted in the very same thread which not only explains why the SU12 Navdata API should be enabled but, it ALSO explains how to turn it off!

http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php/topic,29560.msg191813.html#msg191813

So, I really don't know why you keep repeating, over and over, that I never "answered" to your question, so you keep doing it again, when in that very thread, it's explained how to disable the SU12 Navdata.

Now, if you want to know if you'll have a way to disable it without editing the .INI file, then no, you are NOT getting that.

Because disabling the Navdata API is just wrong, we kept the option only because there might be some very specific cases where you must use a dedicated .BGL, because the one supplied by the original scenery developer was so bad, the original scenery developer wasn't willing to update it, so you had to use one made specifically for GSX. That's the one and only case where I can see disabling the Navdata might be useful.

But in all situations, you want to use the Navdata API, not just because it allows Marketplace airports to work, but because it gives us way more data about Jetway that have been abundantly explained in other places, and without that data, you will have FAR WORSE BUGS with Jetways than any possible bug you might have with the Navdata.

And that's why the decision to disable Navdata, which you still CAN do, must be a conscious one, so you must do it manually, knowing the problems, and that you'll be unsupported. If you are getting problems like passengers in the air, and you disabled the Navdata, we can't really help you, since we just don't have enough data without it to prevent that.
