Dimensions of passenger
« on: January 05, 2023, 10:56:28 pm »
at many airports, where the jetways are slightly smaller in size, heads popping can be seen as passengers deboarding and boarding. tip: instead of asking every developer to change the size, wouldn't it be easier to reduce the height of people in gsx a little? thank you

Not all "head popping" issues are really caused by jetways too small, in some cases it might be enough to the jetway roof height correctly in the GSX .INI profile, this usually fix most of these issues.

However, GSX passengers are surely modeled with realistic sizes, with the two tallest male adults being about 2 meters, the rest averaging 1.75 and most women ranging from 1.60 to 1.75.

Have a look at this video, the guy seems to be reasonably tall, yet he has lots of clearance, even in the last section of the jetway before the airplane door, and he only ducks a little bit when passing under the door.

We saw some 3rd party jetways that are clearly wrong, and not by a small amount ( we measured one case of a jetway section only 1.5 meters high, that's blatantly wrong ) so no, instead of asking GSX to feature unrealistically small people, it would be best if other developers modeled their jetways correctly.

Apart from jetways being too small (which is clear in some cases) there is also the issue of the pax appearing taller because they are floating above the ground (like when boarding the PMDG 738 the pax are usually floating something like 30 cm, causing the taller ones to clip the top of the aircraft door. Small issue..

Passenger are surely not floating on the ground. With "the ground" being defined as:

- the passenger door height, as configured in the airplane profile, when they are still inside the airplane

- the jetway floor height, as configured in the GSX airport profile, which allows to specify a custom floor height for jetways that are not already included in the GSX internal database of 3rd party jetways.

If both these are correctly set, passengers will walk at the correct height.
