FSX T-45C custom sound pack
« on: February 19, 2010, 11:49:34 am »
This is a promo of my upcoming custom sound pack for the Dino's FSX T-45C Goshawk.
Some high speed passes and FCLP patterns at NAF El Centro feature the pack. It is based on real Goshawk sound samples. FSX sound cone technology is also used to get as much authentic sounds as possible.

Many thanks go to Dino for this little beauty!

PS. Real (ex) Goshawk pilots response would be awesome.

...and next sound pack will be for Accel F-18... :)

Sorry I was in a hurry when I first looked at this.  These sounds are just amazing.

Almost just like in real life. When standing on ground watching plane comming at high speed there is no sound then whoosh! Great sounds inside as well and I look forward to the hornet. ;D

All,

New guy here ... been flying Dino's T-45 ... enjoy it!!

Have a few questions about it ... looks like you folks are experienced with the T-45.

1. Dino's published approach speeds don't match up to what I get when I'm flying on-speed using the HUD flight path symbol and AOA bracket. I'm around 100-105 knots. Official Navy flight pubs and Dino's gouge show on speed 115-120 knots. Even with speed brakes out ... although this shouldn't change on speed. Any thoughts?

2. The angle of attack gauge is incorrect for on-speed. Dino is correct that the on-speed AOA is approx 9 degrees which shows on the gauge. However in the old style gauges, 'units' is the measure of AOA and the gauge and markings are calibrated such. Standard Navy gouge is that on speed for any aircraft has the needle pointing to 3 o'clock. (explanation of units vs degrees too long for a short post). Admittedly a small point since most flying is done on the HUD.

3. I see in an earlier post a field version of the fresnel lens for FCLPs. Is that available as payware/freeware?

Thanks

Joe...

Check out the link, as I think Dino is already on top of this and once he gets done with the F-35, he is going back to re-work the T-45.

Thanks for the vector to Dino's site.

Anyone have info on the field version of the Fresnel Lens in fsxnavypilot's you tube screen shot?

The freeware FLOLS trailer by Sylvain Parouty is available at avsim.com (http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=134136) or flightsim.com (http://flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=131878).

average_joe, as Sludge suggests Dino will work on these issues. He has better information to work with now and he knows about this Goshawk airspeed issue. My preference is to use the latest version of the Cattaneo Goshawk at max weight (which is OK) so that the engine RPM is higher. Ashore I like to have a strong wind straight down the runway (no low level turbulence) which helps get the engine working. If not using a visual approach then use a flat approach and I use whatever airspeed that Optimum Angle of Attack gives at the time. IMHO better to fly at OAoA rather than worry about airspeed, same with the Hornet but with the Hornet there is a max AUW and here I prefer to use minimum fuel. This may change if using all of Sludge changes to the basic Hornet (not all applied yet in my case).

Using the Goshawk for FCLP is a good idea to then take that to the Hornet for deck landing practice. However now that a proper mirror is available perhaps using the Hornet also ashore is a good idea. Have not tried the mirror ashore yet. The Goshawk with a strong wind gives a lot of time in the groove - for practice.
