GSX simbrief aircraft doesn't match msfs aircraft b737
« on: September 02, 2022, 10:45:49 am »
Hello,

I am using PMDG 737-800. I already have the PMDG 737-800 profile for Simbrief. What does this mean?

PMDG has set the icao_type_designator for the 737-800 as "B737", which is the official ICAO type for the 737-700, while it should be "B738", they confirmed it will be fixed in the next update, but you can fix it in the meantime by editing the aircraft.cfg and fix the icao_type_designator there.

The 737-600, instead, is already set correctly to be 736.

You go to your community folder:

Community\pmdg-aircraft-738\SimObjects\Airplanes\PMDG 737-800 then you find aircraft.cfg and you modify it with notepad.

That odd, change my 738 to read B738 for the icao_type_designator, but when I enter a Simbrief plan, its still gives me that message...

And I also have chosen the B738 in the flight plan creator via Simbrief

Works for me. Did you save the cfg file after the modification? I know it’s trivial but I don’t see any other explanation…

I’ll give you a screenshot of my file when I get back home to check if it’s exactly the same.

This is what I have for my Passenger 738:

[General]
atc_type="BOEING"
atc_model="B737"
Category = "airplane"
icao_type_designator="B737"
icao_manufacturer="Boeing"
icao_model="B738"
icao_engine_type="Jet"
icao_WTC="M"
icao_engine_count=2
performance="Cruise Speed:\nMach 0.789 (455 kts\s 842 km\/h) \n\nEngines:\nCFM56-7B26 \n\nMaximum Range: \n2,935 nm (3,377 mi\s 5,436 km) \n\nService Ceiling:     \n41, 000 ft (12,496 m) \n\nFuel Capacity:\n6,875 U.S. gal (26,022 L) \n\nEmpty Weight-Standard:\n91,300 lb (41,412 kg) \n\nMaximum Gross Weight:\n174,900 lb (79,333 kg) \n\nLength:\n129 ft 6 in (39.47 m) \n\nWingspan: \n112 ft, 7 in (34.32 m) \n\nHeight: \n41 ft 2 in (12.55 m) \n\n"

Think I found the issue: icao_type_designator="B737" needs to also be changed to icao_type_designator="B738"

Think I found the issue: icao_type_designator="B737" needs to also be changed to icao_type_designator="B738"

That's the only thing that required changing, while having the icao_model correct wouldn't hurt, GSX only need the icao_type_designator to match SimBrief because, according to the MSFS SDK, it's the icao_type_designator that must be the code that matches the official ICAO database of airplane types.
