717 for FS9
« on: January 25, 2010, 06:40:11 pm »
Does anyone know of a fully(ish)-featured 717-200 for FS9 that's worth the cash?

I don't think any of the major developers has one out, but I think Vans Aircraft Co does.

Basically, if I splash out on PHNL and other Hawaiian airports, I would like to be able to do inter-island flights.

I honestly don't think any of them are worth the purchase. The best exterior model is the free JCA model. You can find 2D panels on Avsim ETC... The Vans is whack. I promise you, you'll be very dissipointed.

Heck, I would love to have a 717 done PMDG or LDS style for FSX. Although once PMDG releases their new 737 I will be happy even if no one does a 717.

I tend to stay away from the 737. No matter what I do, I always have trim issues on short final. Maybe CLS will do one... :P The JCA works great for me and the model is very good!! I wish JCA made a panel and VC for it. I assume they (JCA) are dead right?

Link? Is it an FS9 or FSX a/c? I wasn't familiar with a 717 for FSX.

You can get it on flightsim.com but the JCA is still a much better model.

My advice: don't go for the Perfect Flight 717 no matter what...it's an absolute piece of crap, targeted at the same noobs that would buy the Abacus 787! JCA or The Vans are the way to go IMHO.

Good to know JFK. I don't fly the 717, but I did see that...

Thanks for hanging out the warning sign...

Unfortunately there isn't one that I know of that is fsx only or even a new one with a nice vc for fs9. the best ones are the jca and the sga models but there models only you will have to hunt for panels etc etc. combined with the isg gauges and fmc.

The vansaircraft is the only one that exist that has  vc but its old now hopefully someone and remake the Boeing 717 its a nice plane. maybe devloper feelthere would develop it. I haven't seen anything being hinted from pmdg. Ill be using my flight1 classic  md-80 and the old Hawaiian airlines livery and do my island hopping. Hawaiian airlines did have md-80s and one time. its really sad hopfully somone can recreate this bird in great detail.

Thanks for the info guys. I doubt that PMDG will do it since they have their plate full with 3 new a/c to finish, but it would be cool if they did. Maybe Capt Sim would do it. I know people have a love hate relationship with them. I bought the 727-100/200 and Freighter pack and the full C-130 pack earlier this year when they were on sale for $15 bucks each. After applying the guage tweaks to the 727 I have been super happy with it, same with the C-130, but I know that the 757 and 767 by them aren't as good from what I read. If they did a 717 I would probably buy it during the annual $15 sale. BTW, they announced they are doing a 707 next.

Guess I will just need to wait, although once PMDG releases their new 737NGX I doubt I will be flying many other airliners very often.
