Thanks Kin. It's all UT2 except that I have some WOAI installed for the cargo carriers that UT2 is missing. I also use some custom AI that I put together myself that it missing from UT2 and WOAI. I am really pleased with UT2 since they did the last service pack.

Yes, i was thinking of getting that too...since i starting to prep my FSX again.
I've upgraded my system, re-installed FSX and i like the results i'm getting.

I've purchased the PMDG 744 FSX because of the additional B747-8i they added and their plans to produce 737NGX and B777.
I've already installed REX, two FSX Cerenado planes, Tahiti FSX, all my FSDT airports and enjoying the VFR prop flying so far.
I've already installed the Flight 1 installer for UT2, but i'll do that this week.

thanks,
Kin M.

Hey Kalib, I wasn't sure exactly what addons you were refering to as far as sceneries, a/c, etc, so I broke them down into sections. I may have missed one or two things, but I think for the most part this is everything.

Base Addons: UT USA, UT Europe, GEX USA and Europe, FEX, REX, ActiveSkyAdvanced, SceneryTech LC, FSGenesis Mesh

Aircraft Addons: LDS 767, RealAir SF-260, Aerosoft F-16, Nemeth CH-53, Cera Bell 412EP, Lionheart Creations Quest Kodiak and Epic LT, Wilco E-Jets EMB 170/190, Captain Sim 727-100/200/Freighter, Captain Sim C-130 X-perience

Scenery Addons: MegaScenery SoCal/Pheonix/Las Vegas/Dallas, Paulo Richardo's Mega Sao Paulo, FlyTampa St. Marten, FSDreamteam Geneva/Zurich/LasVegas/Ft. Lauderdale/O'hare, Sim Giantes Gran Canaria International Airport, RGFlight Slazburg, UK2000 Gatwick Extreme, Aerosoft Madeira X, Aerosoft German Aiports 2, Aerosoft Nice X, Cloud9 KMCO, Imaginesim KCLT, BluePrint KDAL, LatinVFR Toncontin, Tropical Sim SBRJ/SBGL/SBSP

AI Addons: WOAI, Ultimate Traffic 2 SP1

Addons I am patiently waiting for: PMDG 737NGX, PMDG Bombardier Dash-8, ORBX PNW, Terra-Brasilis MegaRio, but mostly more US airports like KABQ, KTUS, KPHX, KONT, KLAX, KSEA, KPDX, KDEN, KMIA.

I would be willing to spend a bunch of money right away if someone of FSDT or FlyTampas quality and workmanship would do those airports. Until then I find myself mostly flying between the airports that I have and a few of the default aren't too bad like KLAX and KMIA, but could be improved. The only addon that I hate and have had problems with is the Aerosoft Nice X. I will probably tend to shy away from anything they produce in the future and stick to only titles they publish by other developers.

Regards,

Sean

Hey Sean,

Can you describe your hardware config. and your average FPS.

I will soon buy a new PC with following config:

Intel i7 2.66 Ghz, 9800 GT 1GB DDR3, 8 GB of DDR3 Ram, OS is Win7 (64)

Will my FSX run smooth on this system?

Here's a breakdown of my system.

* WinXP Home SP3 * INTEL Core™ 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz oc'd @ 3.85 GHz * ASUS Maximus Formula Intel X38 * CORSAIR 2GB XMS2 PC2-8500 DDR2 * XigmaTek HDT-S1283 * BFG GeForce GTS 250 OC 1GB * WESTERN DIGITAL 500GB * WESTERN DIGITAL 250GB * ANTECH Nine Hundred Case * PC Power & Cooling S75QB 750W 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply * SAMSUNG SyncMaster™ 2333 23" LCD Monitor * Saitek X52 * FSX Setup FS-GS *

As for the all important question will FSX run well on my system? Well, it depends on a lot of things besides just your hardware, like how hard are you going to try to push it, what type of scenery addons your going to use, how much AI, what anti-virus program, how your OS and drivers are set up, etc. Based on what you listed you should do ok, however your probably going to want to overclock that i7 and try to get it up to 3.75 - 4.0 ghz, which from what everyone says who has i7's is pretty easy. Not so sure about that video card, maybe look into an nVidia GTS 250 or higher with at least 1gb on board memory.

As you can see the hardware and OS I have are pretty much considered ancient history, however the way its set up I get really good performance. In the screen shots I posted above were taken using 100% AI from UT2 and the Level D 767 with pretty cloudy weather. I was getting around 25 to 30 fps pretty constantly and it was smooth as silk. I can pretty much fly anywhere I want into large hubs like KORD, KLAX, KSEA, KJFK and maintain FPS above 20 and still remain smooth.

When I do my next upgrade I will also be going to a quad core of some sort, probably i7, and a 64 bit OS like Win 7, and 6 to 12 gb of DDR3. The only thing holding me back basically is that the sim as it is set up now performs so well, that I am not sure I want to take a chance spending another few thousand dollars only to get a very minimal boost in performance.

Overall though with what you listed, I think you should do well proivided you overclock your processor a bit. That was about the biggest performance gain I got was going from 3.0 to 3.85 ghz on my dual core, and it was free, lol. Well, except for the cooler.
