KORD gates
« on: January 03, 2008, 04:24:42 am »
was just looking at MSN maps (Google earth) and found out that there are odd gate configurations at the airport when it comes to the end of the terminals.

http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&cp=44.023938~-99.71&style=h&lvl=4&tilt=-89.875918865193&dir=0&alt=7689462.6842358

Concourses H and G of terminal 3 have unusual gate configurations at the end. The planes pull up to these gates (H18, G20, G21) and can pull out without the need of a pushback truck because the gate swings out in the "1950's" style. you can see the best example of this at Paris CDG. (the circle terminal with the satelites)
Gates H15 and 17 are also elongated.

please note the shape of gate K20 as it is a mess, and K19 has an A and B which intersect each other.

gate L2 is way out there as well.

oh, I almost forgot, Gates at the end of concourse G are similar to the h and K ones.

thanks, Kyle.

Allessandro,

Did you click on that link he gave you in his post? If you zoom in on KORD, it shows the gate numbers painted on the ground, and the layout for the taxi lines leading into the gates crystal clear...better than Google Earth or anything else...very nice tool to use, yes? Also, click on the Bird Eye tab once you zoom into the airport and see how clear the photo's are...its like your standing in the control tower snapping pictures.

We always joked about Windows Live Local, since it was released, that one of the main reasons Microsoft opened that site, is to help FS scenery designers...

Umberto,

Ha! Yes, most excellent that program is when planning on going somewhere via plane or roadway to find out where your going...
