Ground Handling Agents
« on: November 10, 2021, 10:16:08 am »
First, I'm so grateful that we got logos back, it does make a huge difference to immersion!

However something that has bugged me for a long time (am a GSX user since FSX, then P3D up to v5) are a number of factual innaccuracies regarding company ground handling options.

For example, in UK, British Midland is still listed as a handling agent, even though they were taken over by BA and effectively ceased to exist as long ago as 2012. Their hived-off subsidiary British Midland Regional ceased operations in 2019.  In Russia and some of the former Soviet bloc states, Transareo is still listed as a ground handler, despite them going out of business in 2015. Aeroflot is also given as a ground agent in some of the former territories (e.g. Ukraine) which is a political no-no! - Aeroflot operate NO services to or in Ukraine.

I'm sure there are some more that aren't quite right - maybe we could have a dedicated thread to report these and help make GSX even better? Many thanks

Which is why, GSX being the incredibly flexible program that it is, allows you to override any assignment rules for handlers, catering and jetway logos. Please check the following files:

Addon Manager\Texture\rules_handling.cfg
Addon Manager\Texture\rules_catering.cfg
Addon Manager\Texture\rules_jetwaylogo.cfg

You DO NOT need to modify these files. If you create a copy of any of them, and put it in your %APPDATA%\Virtuali\GSX\Texture folder, any changes you made to these files will take precedence over the stock files in the Addon Manager folder, and they won't be overwritten by an update.

And, you don't even need to keep the whole file but, instead, just make an override for single operators.

In addition to that, yes, a proper thread with a proper title, which you can open yourself as well, which would indicate:

- Suggested Changes of existing handlers, with some motivations.

- Addition of missing handlers, indicating their place of operations with some references.

Would be very useful as well, so we can make them official.
