Setup if MSFS Community is not in Default Location?
« on: September 11, 2020, 09:52:17 am »
Hi

My community folder is not in the Default Location, so the Installer can not find it...

How can I make this work?

Cheers Jezza

The installer will surely find the Community folder, even if it's not on the default location. Could you please check the last line of this file ?

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\UserCfg.OPT ( if your MSFS is the MS Store version )

%APPDATA%\Microsoft.FlightSimulator\LocalCache\UserCfg.OPT ( if your MSFS is the Steam version )

The last line should contain a line that says:

InstalledPackagesPath

Then a path, which should match the location of your Community folder. Could you please post this line ?

It has now somewhat installed and activated, but no terminals?

InstalledPackagesPath "D:\MSFS2020"

That's a pretty standard path, and there's no reason why the installer wouldn't use it. Are you sure this path is correct, and contains both the Community and the Official folders ? If your MSFS the MS Store version or the Steam version ?

Has the Live Update completed successfully without errors ?

Something must have gone wrong, since it's very strange the installer said it couldn't find the simulator, then it proceeded. Try Uninstall/Reinstall again, and pay particular attention about any possible errors, both in the installation and in the Live Update.

Not exactly, you DO have jetways from FSDT KORD, meaning the scenery is seen by the simulator. I really don't understand how this is possible, since jetways are called by the same .BGL that calls all the rest of the buildings, so there's no reason why you would have one but no the other.

Try to add the whole FSDT Addon Manager folder to the antivirus Exclusions list and reinstall.

Could you please try to download the installer again, from the Digital River email ? We had a small update that seem to have fixed the simulator not found problem, perhaps it will fix this one too.

Check the installer version to be 2.0.2 ( 2.0.1 was the original version ).

Ok, try this: uninstall FSDT KORD and go back to chicago. Is the default scenery working ?
