New Terminal & Control Tower
« on: February 05, 2020, 08:31:06 pm »
Is there going to be an update and if so, what is the status?
Thanks, Stoneman

There's going to be an update in the future, but we don't have any release date to announce right now.

I assume this is for the new concourse A terminal, gates A21 through A29. Since you used the words "in the future," it sounds like it'll be a while.

Any news on this now that it's been a while, perhaps in the new year?

KCLT and KSDF are made by a cooperation of the same two authors.

In the next days, we'll release KSDF for MSFS 2020, so a new version of KCLT should come some time after it, and it will surely feature the updated airport as it is today.

The updated CLT is for MSFS only, I presume?

We haven't started working on it yet.  After we'll release it, for MSFS, we'll evaluate how much work would be required to port it back to P3D, each scenery is different, there's no rule that can be universally applied to all of them.

I very much hope it's possible to update for P3D.

MSFS is still very much beta I don't care what MSN says.  You have much larger market with FSX; FSX-SE and P3D.  Why not update them FIRST especially for those who have bought this and supported you already and then do an MSFS version for the handful of MSFS users?

I'm working on the update for KCLT right now. At the moment I am involved in develop of the new terminal, and than of the tower. Most of the airport is already in MSFS with better materials and textures and working fine. It should't take too much time.

That's great for the handful of MSFS users.  Those of us who can't run MSFS because of computer limitations and have purchased a lot of FSDT airports back to FS9  including GSX and GSX V2 are very much interested in the other versions of KCLT please.  Are their update next on your list including the updated taxiway designations per Jeppsen Feb 2021? Thank you for all your hard work for FSDT.

There are probably more MSFS users than FSX and P3d combined, but continued support and updates for those using at least P3d V4 is very important.

I don't want to start an argument here; from the people I know that is not true but certainly my circle of flight simmers is limited.  Why don't you start a survey in the forum here and see if that is indeed true by the number of responders?  Then you can definitively determine if that is a true statement.  I know that MSFS is the future but everyone I talk to who bought it, it's still in development stage, typical MSN.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I still use P3dv5 99% of the time myself. I'm just going by the Navigraph 2020 user survey which is generally responded to by the more serious simmers as most new or casual users don't even know what Navigraph is and therefore didn't partake in the survey. The numbers from that show a pretty hefty lean towards MSFS 2020 over the other sims. On top of that would be only a larger margin I would think from newer users who just got into simming because of MSFS2020.

Understood.  I hope then when you have upgraded KCLT to MSFS that FSDT will update the other versions too. In the meantime, Ray has just uploaded a 2021 up to date KCLT at AVSIM that I am going to use.  I use Navigraph and fly on VATSIM a lot and need up to date airports to fly in and out of. ryan Cobb gave me permission to update his KCLT which was 2017 like FSDT but since Ray has already done it I'm going to use that.  Imaginesim is 2009 and Blueprint Sim is 2015.
