Hey FSDT
A lot of poeple including my self, is having trouble with GSX after the latest update.
In-game the GSX menu dont appear when pressing CTRL+SHIFT+F12 and its not shown in the addons menu. in the addon manager menu, GSX is not activated, and when i try to put in my serial code, the message that i linked as a picture appears.
I followed the instructions as the message says, but nothing seem to work. i even tried a full reinstall off GSX and addon manager with anti virus turned off. And every folder that has something to do with GSX and Addon Manager is added in my anti-virus.
A lot of poeple is experiencing this problem, after the last update. It's all over the facebook pages regarding P3D and FSX.
I request that you come up with a fix, as soon as possible, or release an earlier version of GSX.
Best Regards Marcus.
My system:
Windows 10 pro 64bit
P3D v4.5 (latest hotfix)
i5 6600k skylake 3.5 Ghz
8GB DDr4 RAM

There are no problems whatsoever with the latest update. The problem is likely your antivirus, which might mistakenly blocking the program *BECAUSE* it has been updated.

If you absolutely sure your antivirus is properly configured, and your firewall is not blocking the download, the thread named "Addon Manager not showing up in P3Dv4 **SOLVED**" thread lists all the known solutions for missing menu entries from the "Addons" menu:

http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php/topic,17484.msg122656.html#msg122656

Even if the title says P3D4, the solutions are valid for FSX as well.

Hey FSDT
Thank you for a quick resonds.
I've done everything that the thread said, however nothing seem to work.
reinstalled every Microsoft VC, and made sure that they are ALL up to date
I've done multiple reinstalls on different drives and what ever i could think off. I've added every folder and file that has something to do with addon manager to the exclusion list in windows defender, and trust me, i'm a computer guy, so i have done everything you suggested in the thread correctly.
I did notice something actually. By looking in the task manager under "details", i could see that Couatl is starting normally when starting P3Dv4.5. However when reaching 5-6% in loading screen, it crashes (disappears from the task manager). Nothing to see in event viewer...?
So thats the situation i'm in now. i've run out of ideas.
All though I strongly believe you, when you say it has nothing to do with the latest update since you're the developers. but I have to say that on the p3d FB group, many many poeple uploaded the same picture as i did here, and claimed that are having this issue just after the NEW UPDATE.
I'm sure we'll figure this out somehow...  ;)
Regards Marcus
BTW i've linked screenshots of my task manager when opening the sim.

since you cannot access GSX, you should do the following to enable Logging:

- open the Notepad and type the following on a new blank file:

logFile=couatl.log

(please note logFile is written beginning with a lower case L and a capital F )

- Save the file as couatl.ini in the %APPDATA%\Virtuali folder

- Delete %PROGRAMDATA%\Virtuali again

- Run the sim, then exit after it disappear after the cache recreation.

- Check your %APPDATA%\Virtuali folder and if there's a Couatl.LOG file there, post its content

- DO NOT copy the file in a message, but use the "Attach" function of the forum to ZIP the log file and Attach it to a post.

Your error log indicates you ( or some kind of virus/other program ) have purposely modified your windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file to prevent connection with the activation server.

Our software detects that, and refuses to run in this state, since with that file altered, it will never be able to verify your license.

Just revert your hosts file in the default state, and everything will work again.

To people reading this post, what i did to fix it:
*Navigate to your host file (C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\)
*Make sure to backup the host file, in case anything goes wrong for some reason.
*open the host file as notepad, and replace everything with following:

# Copyright (c) 1993-2006 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
# localhost name resolution is handle within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost

now your host file should look like the picture below:
hope it fixed yours as well :)

Hello mexx 0105,
I have exact the same problem as you. (Your screenshot in P3D)
I have been trying to solve this but No result.
I Also noticed i can not even start the couatl application in the addon manager.
In the addon Tab in P3d only the addon manager appears,  No gsx, couatl etc...
I have reset  the hosts files as you did but No result.
Any idea???
Thanks in advance

Easiest solution...

I had the same problem with QOUALT and the key activation. I tried everything that was suggested on all threads and nothing.

I uninstalled all of GSX (1 and level 2) from my computer
Uninstalled addon manager

Reinstalled from *original purchase email link* (1+2)
Reactivated the keys

Now all is working better than before and actually, all the bugs that were present (jetways in the sky, items on runway, etc.) diapered.

Fly safe
