New OS install & FSDreamteam products installed in another drive
« on: December 23, 2019, 02:01:54 pm »
Hello.
I'm doing a complete upgrade of my computer (new MB, GC, processor, memory, SSD) so will make a new installation of Win10-64-Pro.
Both P3Dv4.5+ & all FSDreamteam products are installed in other drives (E:\P3Dv4 and G:\Sceneries_Addons\FSDreamteam)
Will I need to reinstall all FSDreamteam products too?
Tks

If with "new installation", you mean you reinstalled Windows from scratch without keeping your old settings, then yes, you'll have to reisntall everything, including all FSDT products, just like any other software, since that kind of reinstall removes all installed applications. And yes, even if you still see their folders there, on the other drive, doesn't mean they are "installed" under the new OS.

This is EXACTLY what I needed to know. Last question about your answer.
By meaning of "keeping" my old settings would it be reinstalling Windows over its own installation, like a REPAIR? And if so would this mantain FSDreamteam folders active? This is for my knowledge since I'll change MB too and unless I'm wrong its necessary to install Windows AND motherboard's drives so OS works properly
Tks, Umberto.

A Windows 10 reinstall gives two options:

- keep your programs and settings, this is usually called a reinstall in place or repair by some

- not keep your programs and settings.

The first option *should* prevent you to reinstall your apps, but it might not fix/repair whatever issues you might have that lead to reinstall Windows in the first place so, the safest and clean option is the 2nd one.
