747-8i F 1L Entry

Why is it, despite asking for a stairway, from the drop-down menu, I cannot get a stairway to be brought up to 1LEntry? How on earth are the crew on a freighter supposed to enter a 747-8iF?

The default configuration that comes with GSX for the PMDG 787-8F is already correct, doesn't require any customization, and the L1 stair is of the proper type and works just fine, see the attached screenshot, using the default configuration that comes with GSX.

I think you may have actually meant 747-8i rather than a typos error, 787-8F?

I see your screenshots.  That's precisely what I too want, the stairs being trundled to L1 Entry but when I ask for the stairs in the GSX original from the drop-down Ctrl-Shift-F12 menu, no stairs come to that L1 Entry.

Yes, of course, it's the 747-8F, there's no such thing as a PMDG 787. However, I see you are referring to a 747-8iF, and there's no configuration in GSX for that airplane. The only configurations for the PMDG 747-800 are for the airplanes located in these folders:

Simobjects\PMDG 747-8
Simobjects\PMDG 747-8F

Do you have these installed ? Where's the 747-8iF name coming from ? Note that, I'm referring to the P3D4 version of the 747-800 expansion, are you using FSX maybe ? Is the airplane named differently there ?

That's why I asked where that airplane is coming from, FSX perhaps ? And, at least in P3D, there's no such thing as a 747-8i either ( with an "F" or without it ), those two I already indicated:

Simobjects\PMDG 747-8F

Are the only 747-800 I can see, and the only ones GSX has an internal configuration for.

I was going off the post you quoted, I must have missed the first post. In any event, the 747-8iF doesn't exist and is most likely a typo and/or a horrible attempt at trying to mash the two together because as far as I'm aware, a combi variant of the 747-8 doesn't exist. The -8i being the passenger variant and the -8F being the freighter.

Ok, in regards with its real name but, as far as GSX is concerned, the airplane name, which drives the choice of which ( if any ) configuration is used, is driven by the airplane own folder name, the one that contains the aircraft.cfg file. Which means:

- If the airplane.cfg is located under Simobjects\PMDG 747-8, it will be recognized by GSX and will load the internal configuration for the 747-800 Passenger version.

- If the airplane.cfg is located under Simobjects\PMDG 747-8F, it will be recognized by GSX and will load the internal configuration for the 747-800 Freighter version.

These are the folders the current version of the PMDG 747-800 expansion use, if the airplane.cfg is located in a differently named folder, GSX won't recognize it, so it will have to be configured from scratch.
