No Heavy gates???
« on: October 20, 2019, 09:24:02 am »
Love the airport!

When I go into the sim and try to assign a start Gate I get no "Heavy" gates. In face all my Gates are listed as GA, GA Medium. My experience with GSX is it doesn't play well with 777 parked at a medium gate

There's really no such thing as Heavy Gates irl as it is. Simply set whatever parking spot that you want to use in GSX to a size appropriate to your 777.

OK but what happens IRL?? I know some airports have taxi and gate restrictions for B747 and A380 aircraft. Not to mention gate restrictions for Aircraft with wingspans over a certain limit. A 777 and B747 have a big delta in wingspan from a 737 or A319. I thought a Airport as detailed as KCLT would have those distinctions built in.

The CLT scenery has 2 gates large enough for up to B77W/A350/B744 sized aircraft, D11 and D12. IRL, they do use other gates for other large aircraft (A330's) and you can customize those to your liking size-wise with GSX.

See the reply here, it's for KLAX, but the same explanation is valid for KCLT as well:
