fsdt texture creator dude

hi, i don't know who's the responsible for the textures, but this message is a hope of knowledge sharing  :)
i'm a 3d animator, but i have a lack of texturing knowledge, specially games texturing wich requires mapping (wich i know) and photoshop texture creation, with details of texture itself, damage, dirt, scratches, etc. so, i would like to know some tips, you dont have to tell me what to do, just say a good place to learn, a good tutorial for this, or anything you're in the mood to tell me  :D

since fsx release, and specially after VRS superbug's release, when i saw their cockpit, i just would like to say, fdst, good job on your model and textures. their blows. (nothing against them, good add-on, but you know... arial font on the hud? wtf?)

If you want a *really* good source of information about creating textures to be used in games, I STRONGLY suggest you to buy this book:

It's an hands-on approach to use Photoshop layering techniques, to create realistic textures that will look good in game.

I would love to have the skills that the FSDT and FlyTampa guys have to not only texture but to make the models as well. It took me a good 3 or 4 days just to get fairly descent at painting aircraft, I can only imagine trying to learn how to model and texture buildings. If I had skills of those that I mentioned above I would probably never sleep since I would be doing all my favorite airports that no one else does.

Thanks for the link Bruce. I will check it out. If it's anything like CAD then I would probably learn it fairly well from what I learned in college. Creating the model may be one thing, but then learning how to make the textures for it is another. I am decent at painting a/c, but painting buildings would be another. That's where having an artists eye comes in.

If I could sit in on a project with Umberto and his crew or observe George or Martin making a model, then creating the textures I could probably pickit up fast, but downloading the tools and trying to learn from a manual is another.

Sometimes I feel like I spend so much time painting a/c, making photo sceneries, adding objects, and modifying ADE's that I never really do much flying. When I do fly it's to see how a new creation looks, then close the sim and start working on something else, lol.

Thanks again for the link though. I will be sure to take a look at it.
