It seems what really happened here, is P3D crashed for some reason, most likely an AI with missing/corrupted textures, and it MADE Couatl crash. Couatl.exe, by definition (being an .EXE), cannot crash the sim.
But the sim can crash it because, if it crashes abruptly, it won't give a chance to all started programs to receive the proper "quit" command, so they will crash because of this. Of course, you'll see Couatl.exe referenced in the Event viewer, so you are easily mislead it was the cause, but in fact it was the victim. Do you also have an event for P3D4 itself ?
