Custom livery making a pushback truck black
« on: November 19, 2018, 08:22:19 pm »
I've made a custom livery for GSX.
For one livery, but not other ones I've made, one of the pushback trucks appears completely black (see screenshot one.).

To add to this, some of the pallets are not working properly for both operators. Some appear black in the Fly2 livery, and all in the FlyUK livery. (see screenshot two and three).

I've attached the livery, with the logos removed, and placeholders put in their place. The parking code for the livery with the pushback truck and pallets is "Fly2". The other one is "Fly UK"
The archive password is "yaybrokenagain".

Cheers for the help  :)

I checked your files, and surely the Fly2 livery texture is corrupted. Or, it's not a proper .DDS, since the Imagetool.exe from the SDK cannot open it.

Hmm... I'll attach another placeholder logo. The normal one works fine, bar the mentioned issues.

Just to make it clear: the same .dds works for other vehicles. It will show on pallets (even if the textures underneath are completely black), cargoloaders, staircases, some pushback trucks.

Don't know if it helps or means anything but I managed to open and view all your DDS files using the program DXTBMP. The word LOGO was showing clearly in black on a white background.

The last DDS file you attached is different from those in your earlier post. I am not too familiar with graphics but I did notice the ALPHA channel in your earlier post was showing as a white field only with no lettering visible.  The last DDS you posted you can see the word LOGO in white letters on a black background when you view the ALPHA . I believe , with my limited knowledge, that white in the ALPHA channel will display as black on-screen.

DXTBMP is a free program you can download from flightsim.com. If you run it you will clearly see what I am trying to explain. Good luck

That's exactly how it should be. I made all the DDS files with DXTBMP using the DXT 5 preset.

Again me not being fully knowledgeable, your Fly2 and FlyUk DDS files have the ALPHA channel showing a white field only. If you look at any DDS file in the GSX staircases folders they all show white lettering on a black background in the ALPHA channel. In your DDS files the main viewing area in BMPDXT shows "LOGO" but the top right ALPHA channel view shows a white field only. This is not the case with any other DDS files found in GSX DDS files. (I have no idea if this is the cause of your "black" vehicles but I think it plays a role)

Tbh, that doesn't really matter. All the alpha channel does is makes part of the image transparent

Back to the drawing board I guess.
