Jetway variation
« on: September 21, 2018, 02:21:59 pm »
I know it is planned to add more jetways in future. But instead of adding more and more variants, would it be possible to also add a variation of the already available ones: one without a supportive structure below the jetway joint? As many of the jetway joints are conneted directly to the terminal building, this supportive structure is often obsolete and interferes with the scenery buildings. Basically, this supportive structure is only relevant if a jetway bridge is used, no? Problem: if the jetway bridge is hardcoded into the scenery, such as in LEBB by ORBX, connecting the joint directly to the hardcoded jetway bridge results in a rather ugly overlap of the supportive structures. And using an additional jetway bridge does simply not look right.

Just an idea...

Regards
Chris

one without a supportive structure below the jetway joint?

You mean the jetway pylon ? Well, we have about almost 80 different jetway models with a pylon so, one won't be very useful and, ideally, we would have to supply another 90 models with no pylon.

Yes, we considered doing the pylon a separate object, like the gpu, but this will increase again the number of different objects in the simulator, which is bad for fps.

Ok, that makes sense. Still most of the jetways I know do not have a pylon below the joint, as they are connected directly to the terminal Building. Means: instead of 90 with and 90 without, the majority without would represent the reality better.

Idea: put the pylon on the jetway Bridge, on the end facing towards the jetway. Basically this is the pylon that would be needed, no?

the majority without would represent the reality better.

If the jetway use a bridge, there's always a pylon, and there are surely cases when there's pylon even without one so, with one model, we covered both options.
