GSX 2 Control Panel Error **SOLVED**
« on: September 07, 2018, 09:43:35 pm »

This now appears after the latest update... it appears there is a \ missing between v4 and scenery?  This error repeats over and over until the program is force closed in task manager.

The problem is your registry. By default, the registry key for the sim has a trailing backslash, like this:

C:\Prepar3D v4\

But yours, maybe because it was altered by some utility or by hand, is missing it, so the Control Panel is confused. We'll fix it to defend against this, but you can probably fix it yourself by adding the missing trailing backslash in the two P3D4 registry keys, here:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\AppPath
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\SetupPath

Both registry entries are fine.  I have no other problems with any other addons except the GSX v2 control panel

I'm sorry but, the error message you saw seemed quite clear, and it shows you missed the trailing backslash in the registry. Do you maybe have another key for P3D under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\WOW64NODE ? That might appear if you even ran it in Compatibility mode.

In any case, there's already a new version of the Control Panel on Live Update now, which should work regardless if the path of the sim in the registry has the trailing backslash or not, let me know if it works.

I have the same problem.

Before your fix, I had the "silent" crash with the reported EventLog "Directory not Found".

Not I have the alert Dialog as posted above but pointing to C:\FSX

I have chacked all the RegEdit Entries and they are all correct P3Dv4 Path.

Do you read any other Reg-Keys I could check?

Thanks

Do you have FSX installed ? It's possible you still have a registry key for FSX, but removed it ?

That's right, FSX (was) installed but most files on the HD in C:\FSX are removed.

So I should manually clean the registry?

Thank you

UPDATE:
After manually cleaning the system from FSX installation, the Panel now start correctly, thank you for your help.
