What is "jetway exclude radius"?
« on: July 24, 2018, 11:33:09 pm »
How is the "jetway exclude radius" option used in the parking system customization dialog?  I don't see any mention of it in the docs.

It's a feature that will be used in the GSX Level 2 expansion, to replace 3rd party jetways.

By default, only standard, default jetways using the default model will be replaced automatically. Jetways made using the default animation system with a custom model won't be replaced until you say so, and this can be done parking by parking so, you can choose to replace such jetways only at selected parkings.

By default, the jetway exclude radius will be very small ( 1 meter around the jetway insertion point ) but, if you have a 3rd party scenery that has an animated jetway and a static jetway very close, assuming it CAN be excluded (=made as a separate object), you might want to enlarge a bit that radius, so that both jetways can be excluded, to be eventually replaced by TWO animated SODE jetways supplied by GSX.

After setting the exclusion radius, a small .XML file containing only the exclusions will be created, which can be compiled into a .BGL when exiting the sim (exiting the sim will be mandatory, since it's not possible to rewrite an already loaded .BGL while the sim is running), so the next time you star the simulator, all those jetways you asked to be removed, will disappear, so you'll be able to place SODE jetways with the GSX parking customization editor.

All this exclude .BGLs will all be located in a special folder under the Addon Manager\fsdreamteam folder, so we can both achieve the following:

- Remove jetways in 3rd party airports, letting you choose which gates will be affected, without touching the original scenery

- Letting you easily go back to the scenery as it was, by simply removing the exclusion .BGL.
