Elevation problem **SOLVED**
« on: December 29, 2017, 05:44:31 pm »
Hi,
it seems that I have an elevation problem; see attached picture. Open LC Europe, FTX Vector is not touching LSGG; I cannot find
LSGG in FTX elevation correction.
Thanks for the help

I cannot find LSGG in FTX elevation correction

This seems to be the issue. It seems the OrbX elevation correction tool still hasn't been updated to recognize sceneries installed in the native P3D way (using the add-on.xml method, instead of the scenery.cfg ), so it cannot detect LSGG and fix the altitude problem it caused in the first place.

If the issue is the OrbX elevation correction tool not recognizing the scenery because it's installed in the native P3D way, only OrbX can fix it, and they should.

Thanks Umberto,

ORBX gave me that answer

"The most important is that there is no Vector AEC correction for LSGG,
so whether or not the control panel recognises it is not really relevant.
Secondly, it remains perfectly possible to manually disable AEC for a single airport.
It is only the auto configuration that does not recognise the xml entries.
There is only one file for LSGG in the entire ORBX folder.
ORBX\FTX_VECTOR\FTX_VECTOR_APT\scenery\ABP_LSGG.bgl.
If you disable that, rename it to ABP_LSGG.bgl.off, you will have none.
If your problem goes away, all good.
If it does not, you will need to return to the FSDT forum and share with them the advice I have just given you."
Unfortunately this did not help.

If removing that LSGG file from OrbX doesn't fix this, it seems you have another product, likely a mesh, which is causing this.

What 3rd party mesh product you have installed ? FS Global, maybe ? If yes, they have a specific additional software called AFM, which is supposed to fix issued caused by mesh products that are not preprocessed (like the default ones are), to be smoothed out around airports in order to prevent the plateau effects.

Yes I do have FS Global and it seems to be the problem. Someone on the ORBX site
also recommended AFM. So will try that.

Anyways I realy appreciate your help, thanks.

Got it fixed with Pilot's AFM tool, now also available for P3Dv4 and
free for FS Global customers.
