Going back to what you said "You are not supposed to touch anything, since the scenery works fine as installed." But it dosen't
Yes, it does.
If I want to turn it Off or On via the Options\Add-ons page It then means I have to close P3Dv4 and reboot for it to activate it. That ain't on.
That's how the sim works. What's the point of wanting it to be disabled while running the sim ? It's totally useless, for the following reasons:
1) An FSDT scenery doesn't have to be disabled "to save memory", because it does memory management on its own so, once you exit its area, all its objects will be discarded from memory.
AND
2) Under V4, the whole idea of wanting to disable sceneries to save memory, is a complete waste of effort.
AND
3) FSDT sceneries would STILL require a restart of the sim when enabled/disabled, even if you use the scenery.cfg method to install them. This has always been the case, and won't change now, because the Addon Manager reads the list of active sceneries only at start.
You said yourselfs and flightbeam both currently are using this system, so how come I could add your KJFK and KLAS and all of my Flightbeam installs and get them to all work correctly be activated and not have then greyed out? (see pic)
The installers DO use this system but nobody can stop you from manually adding its area to the scenery.cfg in the old way. Doing this, will cause a double entry, unless you remove the add-on from the "Options->Add-on" menu.
But ZurichX can't be moved
Because, as I've said, if a scenery is installed using the "new" system it cannot be moved. If you add it manually (and remove the the double entry in the Options->Add-on menu, you will "downgrade it" to the old method, so you will be movable again.
Note that, we DO NOT support doing this.
