Couatl Crash **SOLVED**
« on: June 07, 2017, 11:17:26 pm »
When i wanna use the pmdg 747 with gsx my couatl crashes , it only crashes if the pmdg 747 is in the cold and dark mode (Prepar3D v4) i have installed and reinstalled both the addon manager and the gsx installer without luck. Hope this forum can get up with an idea.

Thank You

Yes , that the addon manager encountered an unrecoverable problem and that i need to reinstall the latest addon manager , then it asks if i want to restart the couatl service and if i click yes it keeps on crashing.

It doesn't say just that, it also ask if you want to open the error log for details, which is what you are supposed to do, to have something meaningful to report to support.

couatl v3.2 (build 3823)

I see that Couatl is still outdated, which is not normally possible, considering you said you reinstall the Addon Manager. This suggest some kind of antivirus interference, which might cause both getting the outdated version, and possibly the error itself.

The installers say that the GSX version is: 2.0.0.0 and the Addon manager: 4.0.0.1

The installers say that the GSX version is: 2.0.0.0 and the Addon manager: 4.0.0.1

The version number is not important, since the installers downloads and install the Couatl.exe (which is the file you have outdated, according to your log) when they run, during the final Live Update step.

That's why I said a possible reason for not getting the updated file, might be antivirus interference which, incidentally, might be also the cause of the error since, even that 3823 version of Couatl, while not the latest, won't cause that error.

I have now disabled every single anti-virus thing on my pc , installed the addon manager and as before the entries that needs to be made into the exe.xml and dll.xml are not made , not really how it should be either is it?, i need to manually add both the couatl and bglmanx entries to those xml files or otherwise they are not loading into the sim , and yes i installed the addon manager in a seperate folder outside my sim

It is exactly as it should be. Under P3D V4, we don't use such files anymore.

No, you don't. But if you have a CORRUPTED EXE.XML in the %PROGRAMDATA% folder, caused by a bugged installation of another product (we had reports that UT Live beta cause this), this will prevent ALL executables from being loaded. It's a bug in P3D V4 which should be fixed in the next update, and LM is aware of it.

Remove all your additions from the XML files, and be sure they are not corrupted. An easy way to check if an XML file is corrupted, is to open it with Internet Explorer.
